It would be great to see the hockey, cricket and rugby teams and coaches support their classmates and students by refusing to train or play until everybody can.
GAA never really took off at the Grammar. Teachers would occasionally try to get a team going but wouldn’t be able to consistently field a team.
School isn’t that big and was always more focused on Hockey and Rugby
GAA was commonly not available in a lot of rugby playing schools more generally until quite recently.
This has been brewing for a while, absolutely nuts from the BoM.
>Organisers say over 400 students, 90% of teachers, the PTA (Parents & Teachers Association) and parents supported the introduction of [*Gaelic*](https://www.dundalkdemocrat.ie/section/162/gaa) Football at Dundalk Grammar School.
Doesn’t seem like a fight the school is going to win, and I’m not exactly Mr. GAA.
I’ve said it once and I will say it again.
Rugby is for mutton heads.
The hint is in the name of”grammar school” it’s pure Protestant views..
It’s weird they aren’t playing hurling.
Went to a similar school. Some lads wanted to play soccer but they knew before they went it wasn’t an option. So they and their parents accepted they’d chosen a school where rugby was the only field sport available and got on with it. They played rugby at school and club soccer if they wanted to. We played soccer every lunch break and non-rugby PE class and played games after school as well. If I was the board of management I would make it clear they wouldn’t be bullied by people who entered the school with their eyes open and then demand it changes.
