Even if true the same deteriorating weather conditions (Ukrainian fall mud season) that will likely stop the Russians will also impede the Ukrainians for a month or more. Though Ukraine has the advantage of infrastructure in better condition near the front lines to transport troops and supplies. (Russia has generally shelled everything it has occupied in the last 2 years into near oblivion in order to capture it.)

Ukrainians are not going to mount an offensive in mud season.
If the lines became stagnant they will both hunker down and dig in, Russia has proven to be better in building defensive lines it’s a huge part of their doctrine.
At the same time mud season will do nothing to stop fabs from raining down on Ukrainian lines.

I’ve been saying (armchair general) that Ukraine needs to develop mud-warfare techniques. When the Russians pack up for the winter, Ukraine moves in and takes it all back.

It gives both sides time to consolidate and that will benefit the Ukraine more than Russia, especially if Ukraine can strike deep into weapons and ammunition depots.
