It was a ballsy move, and in fact a good idea. It just didn’t work.

    Very biased title choice:

“You mentioned one reason: to ease pressure on Donbas. But there were other goals, like creating an element of surprise and reviving this positional war, which seemed to be at a standstill. That was achieved,”

  3. Kursk operation was to force Putin to accept POW exchange again.
Because in Kursk were not meat waves or delinquents from prisons but soldiers with families which had promises to not be sent as meat wave.

  4. * they showed they can lead efficient offensives action using only a small amount of western weapon (abd no air superiority)
    * they showed we can occupy a city without killing everyone (even though this won’t be shown to russian)
    * they captured a lot of conscript and exchanged them against Azov warriors ! (it is already a morale boost for a lot of soldier)
    * they had some victory which also help soldiers moral in trying times
    * they showed once against that russian red line are nothing
    * they probably prevented an assault on Soumy
    And yes
    * they may have some territory for future negociation

but clearly, the goal was not to get the whole oblast, and not only to get territory.
