Color me surprised! He was going to be confirmed regardless of what was found. Notice how he didn’t even try to sue for slander?

I am shocked to learn this fact that we all already knew was, in fact, a fact.

We knew this at the time. They’re was plenty of reporting them.

    > that FBI Investigation Into Brett Kavanaugh?

Did it involve checking his name and a contact number? Or was it less exhaustive than that?

  5. Obviously we knew that even if there are some new minor details here. But why aren’t these things investigated afterwards? I get that there isn’t really a mechanism that you can use to have a do-over of the confirmation or remove Kavanaugh, but the fact that it was a sham investigation should in itself warrant an examination of why it unfolded the way it did, and what it would have uncovered if it hadn’t been obstructed. Is it just the Democrats playing nice here and moving on?

  6. Just like John “Opie” Roberts before him, and Amy Covid Handmaid after him, Rapey Brett is on the Extreme Court as a reward for his part in the Florida 2000 election theft. All this theater about the Trump MAGAtt wing of the party being enemies with the Bush Crime Family wing of the party is complete bullshit. They always were one and the same.

  7. The move by Sen. Flake to have the FBI investigate before voting was the right one.

Trusting the investigation, handled by Trump’s DOJ, to be thorough was…not the right one.

If true, it’s ridiculous. There’s a more thorough background investigation to hold a secret-level security clearance than for a seat as a Supreme Court Justice. This needs to change. Our country can’t rely on the “honor” system any more.

I don’t believe congress is capable of providing oversight against corruption

Anyone paying attention and not bought in was pretty vocal about this as it was(n’t) happening.

  11. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a62542737/fbi-probe-brett-kavanaugh-trump/) reduced by 84%. (I’m a bot)

    > The report found that messages to the FBI tip line regarding Kavanaugh were forwarded directly to the White House and never probed, and that the FBI had no written protocols for the supplemental background investigation ordered by the White House.

    > The FBI received more than 4,500 calls and electronic messages related to Kavanaugh and was directed to forward the tips to the White House without pursuing any possible leads, according to the report.

    > Neither the FBI nor the White House explained whether the tips had been reviewed, Whitehouse said.

But thanks to him, we now have “boof” in the national archives

    We already knew that.

The aspect of that whole sad episode was the fact that the GOP hired someone to ask their questions, in order to appear like they cared about the truth, but as soon as she started asking Kavenaugh to explain an event on his calendar that matched the get together that Ms. Ford described in her accusation that he attacked her, the GOP sent their questioner packing.

WTF is this fake shock? We knew it then. It was an obvious trump directive to install this rapist as a gift to his Christian Nationalist handlers.

Man I am so sick of the media putting on ignorant guises. Every fucking news article is from someone who is acting like they’ve just crawled out from behind a rock im 2016. So fucking stupid.

  16. No shit. I seem to recall that people tried to give the FBI information and they turned it down

    Wow you don’t say?

Another painfully unqualified and bad Supreme Court judge unethically placed in power for life by Donald Trump 😮

There were multiple rape and gang rape allegations. None of the women were contacted.

  19. Wasn’t this the investigation that wasn’t actually allowed to investigate anything?

media got into the sex scandal side of things, and forgot everything else curious about him and his finances, although in their defence the media mostly feeds us the grool we are hungry for.

  21. SaviorofMoe on

Yeah. We all saw that play out live and it’s been obvious from the start.

  22. mytthewstew on

The FBI did not interview the suspect, the victim or the potential witness.
