For an indie video game that me and my friends are building, we have created a speculative future in which massive shifts in the climate completely alter the political and social landscape in the coming decades, leading to, among other things, the idea of regulating the northern european climate by inserting small tectonic plates into a previous faultline to reignite a regulated magma stream in the baltics. The historical basis for this lies in megaprojects from the 70s. But in our future timeline, the European commission uses heavy industry to be able to create these large-scale Geoengineering projects. We’re also using concepts of time travel, aesthetics of retro/cassette futurism, and would love to spark debates around future forms of community organizing when climate and capitalism fail.
