    >*Members of Parliament should get more information about how foreign diplomats operate and how they can tell when diplomatic behaviour crosses the line, Morrison said.*

    >*He said that when he was appointed acting national security adviser, he was asked to brief cabinet ministers following the 2021 election and warn them that there could be an increase in attempts by foreign countries to target them through diplomatic missions.*

    >*Friday’s testimony also shed new light on some of the cases of foreign interference that have taken place in Canada in recent years.*

    >*In 2023, Canada declared Chinese diplomat Zhao Wei persona non grata following a media report that he had targeted Conservative MP Michael Chong. In the days following the report, Global Affairs received new information from CSIS dating back to 2021 regarding foreign interference activity by Zhao.*

    >*While the move was largely seen at the time as a response to the media report about Chong being targeted, Morrison said the department had been discussing declaring a Chinese diplomat — not necessarily Zhao — persona non grata for months.*

    >*He said the media report provided an opportunity to send a message to China and other countries engaging in foreign interference in Canada.*

    >*Responding to a question about China’s interest in Canada’s Arctic, GAC assistant deputy minister Alexandre Lévêque said the region is now a stage for geopolitical competition. Global Affairs is conducting a review of Canada’s Arctic policy, which will be made public soon.*

    >*The foreign interference inquiry, headed by Justice Marie-Josée Hogue, was set up following media reports which accused China of interfering in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections.*

That should work. It’s very Canadian though.

    “Pretty please don’t interfere.”

  3. Heres an idea, how about sending all foreign ambassadors in Canada back to their respective countries while an election is ongoing?

  4. How about let voters know which MP’s are foreign agents before the next election?

Only an idiot would think Canada will protect its sovereignty. We are drowning in corruption.

“You better not meddle in our elections, we’re really really really serious this time!”

Would be good to know which MPs are involved in foreign interference.

  8. Very scary I’m sure there so very worried considering the last time it happened it was swept under the rug

Uh-oh, I bet they’re going to wag their finger at them, and everything. Look out!

  10. There is only one reason to do this: an attempt to win votes.

It has absolutely no effect on the diplomats. If they’re interested in interfering, nothing you say will change that. You aren’t going to have them saying: “Oh, they don’t want us to interfere, we’d better not.”

We don’t take action against terrorists living in our country, you think we’ll do anything to stop foreign diplomats from screwing with us?

Canada has no teeth and a very soft underbelly, we’re a giant target for all the bad guys around the world.

Just another example of the sheer incompetence exhibited by this government.

  11. The Canadian Government has made us a laughingstock on the world stage. We were a place of peace and prosperity many moons ago and now we are nothing but a place for others to come, interfere, take our resources, flaunt our laws, and bring their own countries problems into ours. We need a political reset and from that day on enforcement of our laws and respect for the “Canadian” way of life.

Damn that’s a smart idea. Now we should get the police to warn the general public to not commit any crimes. Problem solved.

  13. NDP / Liberals are calling interference from India and Russia that supposedly helped Conservatives but not from China because that primarily helped their own MPs. You now see Liberal ministers supporting India after the Khalistan fiasco because they are now trying to gain sympathy from Canadian Indians now who are against Khalistan. NDP won’t do the same because… you know

Conservatives will similarly call out countries that are not supporting them but most have fingers in all the pots.

I am surprised that no MP has the integrity and backbone to even just leak it. Maybe the powers are waiting for a time closer to elections to help change the tide. All sitting MPs are in it – and cannot be trusted

No one wants to change anything

I thought this was a Beaverton article from the title. 😂

Based on the title I assume this was Beaverton. This is…pathetic at best.
