A 20 week pilot – about 20 years after it started being needed IMO!
It’s very frustrating between junkies and teenagers burning holes in your brain with the utter pish that come out with. Hopefully this goes in the right direction and they up the numbers for a heavier presence.
Luas security seems to do an alright job, I would use the bus far more than the Luas but I’ve seen them turn undesirables away from it. It gets to a point where we pay so much to live in this city in the first place among all the other fuckery we have to put up with. There’s simply no patience left in me for the waste of space that is the youthful future dole prospects and junkies community.
I’ve never heard the like. Security on buses? And they say there’s not a crime problem and Dublin is safe. Jesus, this country has problems.
Good to see
20 Wks is probably long enough to see effects
I’ll be downvoted considering the r/ireland demographic, but is this really needed?
If it’s for bus drivers getting hassle then fair enough, but in over 40 years using Dublin Bus I haven’t really witnessed anything other than a bit of general nuisance that you’ll get everywhere else in the world.
Of course there are sporadic incidents on Dublin Bus but unless there’s going to be security on every single bus then that won’t be prevented.
I’m blessed that my bus routes are normal, Nitelinks too.
In my near 40 years of getting the bus I’ve never encountered an incident where I thought a security guard was needed. Nor have I thought a security guard would have prevented an incident.
I get on the bus, I sit/stand there and I get off. My bus journeys are, for the most part, boring. Long may it continue.
