So many other ways this could be presented, but I get it.
If US ever decides to invade Canada once again, all it needs to do is invade and annex all the sparsely populated parts and leave Canada as a strip of land like it’s a horizontal Chile.
This map (in particular, the green and red areas) is why a $30 billion high speed rail line from Windsor, ON to Quebec City, QC (that supposedly gets us top speeds of 300 km/h and average speeds of 170 km/h) is sensible. You just need to convince the 2 provincial governments and the federal government to somehow split the cost. It is much cheaper than Doug Ford’s idea of building a $60 billion tunnel system, and a much better use of taxpayer money. It really is time for us as a country to end the car dependent hellscape that is southern Ontario and Quebec. We face extreme climate change, tragic auto accidents and ridiculous insurance costs today with our car-centric system, and all of these things can be substantially mitigated for a large part of our population if we can build it like they do in Europe and Asia.
Man, the whole of Canada has only 26 million people. So wild to imagine that Tokyo or New Delhi has more people than the whole population of Canada.
