    1. Because LCDs still need to blast light into your eyes to display the color black, while OLED just keeps the black colored pixels off.

Can’t get darker than complete darkness.

Because dark mode + OLED uses less power, extending battery life in portable devices.

You can also sit MUCH closer to a big screen OLED TV than you can to a regular one. You don’t need a desk much deeper than average to comfortably use a 48″ OLED as a primary monitor, for example. Even in bright scenes, they don’t need to push 3000 nits for the content to still look just as good, if not better, than some of the best LCD/LED panels in the market

    4. for me it’s because it hurts my eyes but i mean saving the screen is a nice bonus i guess

I hate dark mode. But I don’t sit in the dark or really use mobile devices.

When an oled is dark, that means pixels are turned off. This increases the life of the oled.

    7. Do OLED monitors suffer the burn in that phone screens do? It’s the one thing that puts me off buying one. All my old OLED screen phones had major burn in after 2yrs. My laptops normally last 5 or more years so I want to avoid that issue

I have an OLED monitor next to an IPS monitor. The difference in brightness is night and day.

I love dark mode for everything. Can’t stand super bright website. (I’m looking at you, Wikipedia mobile and desktop website for the last 20 something years before they finally got dark mode)
