It’ll get you a go of a trolly aurond Aldi. But you’ll have the bring the trolly back if you want to keep the 2 euro.

  2. One of the national newspapers had an article a few ago about them being very rare and worth hundreds so I checked my jar and found 4 out of about 40 euro worth of coins so they aren’t rare or worth anything more than 2 euro I’m afraid just lazy journalists with nothing to do but make up stupid stories for views.

So to give an actual answer. This looks like 1 of 6 different special coins issues for the 6 Countries Commemorative in 2004. There was about 600+/- issued. However since the date on this shows 1999-2009. It appears to be the Economic and Monetary Union issue of the coin minted on January 1st 2009. There’s approx 5million of these made so I’m not sure it has as much value as the original 2004 coins. That being said I can see multiple listing’s on eBay for the 6 coin collection going for €1400. My suggestion, keep it and see if you can track down the other 5 coins for a neat collection. If not I’ll take it off your hands for €2

Had the EXACT same coin like a week ago😭😭

I’ve had loads of these, kind of cool but not worth more than €2, especially since it’s been circulated

  6. You could exchange it for two one euro coins. Double the coins in your pocket. Thank me later.

I remember collecting that coin as a kid, had a good few of them but eventually spent them on holidays buying Yu-Gi-Oh! cards if I remember in Santa Ponca 😂

I always hated that design. Just looks so sloppy and lazy. Like they used the 5 second rough draft of the idea rather than the finished one by mistake.

I actually got one of these years ago and looked it up, was going for €1.20 on ebay. So no.

All the smart arses here commenting €2 won’t be laughing when op cashes in and is sunning himself on the balcony of his Lamborghini.

  11. As a child I thought someone melted the surface of it and just drew in it with a pencil or something lol.

    Short answer: 2 euros.

Just slightly longer answer: if they’re part of that specific collection, a bit more depending on who needs them to fill their collection.

Source: last year I started collecting the commemorative €2 coins and I’ve amassed about 1/4 of the collection printed so far. It’s honestly never going to make me much or any more money than what they’re worth, but it’s a quiet little hobby to have. At the end of the day you still have those coins, which are worth money. And you might have some that are rarer than others! But that’s nothing to bank on. Pun intended.

The main interest to me is to see what certain countries decide to celebrate with a coin of its own. So there’s 2 Berlin Wall coins. Several celebrating doctors and nurses during COVID. Etc.

€2, at least I hope that’s all coz I’ve spent a lot of these ones.

  14. Some can be.
Look online for more info as its all down to the hidden markings on them.
My son found a rare one that a coin shop in Dublin said was worthless.
Took it to UK last year ended up with a couple of hundred for it.
