Wouldn’t it just be easier to provide free 5G at this point?

You have to register / login as a user. So I better stick with [Freifunk](https://freifunk.net/en/).

In France, internet providers used to allow by default the modem/router (we call that an “internet box”) they provide you to open a second WiFi network available to everybody that was a customer with just login/password to connect.
That meant that in citys, there was a kind of super network, made of hundred of thousands/millions modem/router broadcasting from apparrments, that provided WiFi to almost everywhere in streets, shops, etc.
I don’t really know why they all abandon this project, I imagine a lot of things could have caused this beginning by cybersecurity requirements, free riders, obsolescence because of mass adoption of smartphones with 4G/5G and costs.

But why if we have EU-wide mobile data roaming?

So now the EU will get a letter from a lawyer saying EU downloaded 200 millions of Joker 2. 😂

Why not everywhere instead of just public spaces?
People in cities might be able to use these a bit but people in rural areas are left to do their shit and if this causes providers to lose money they will rise prices on us poor fcks in the rural areas.

This is nothing new, our small town has it in main public areas and the speed is great

Seems completely useless to me. There’s no problem it solves.

I’d prefer free public toilets.
