Oh, was it buried in the pile under the tax cuts for billionaires and whoring for clicks?

I’ve really been enjoying these articles lately from NJ.com. I hope they continue to gain readers.

  3. NYT tomorrow: Why Donald Trump’s Cognitive Decline Could Cost Harris Election

  4. NOCHILLDYL94 on

“Trumps slurring and inability to stay on topic are part of a much larger problem that paints a picture of cognitive decline. This is why it will probably cost Biden a solution to Gaza…..”- NYT probably

  5. freerangepops on

There is nothing new about the NYT’s ethical flexibility. I did an analysis of their position on war in Vietnam from 1954 to 1967. It wasn’t until public opinion was solidly against the war that they questioned the wisdom of that sad adventure. NYT is a follower and has never led.

  6. We can mock the New York Times and question its motivations, but at least they have written an article that addresses what is perhaps the most damaging risk of a Donald Trump being elected, a totally mentally incompetent person sitting in the oval office. To be very old, probably physically decrepit, and clearly shifting towards senility deserves all the headlines the established media can give it.

  7. Too late. You’ve already helped to install our new God King. Excellent work New York Times.

    >Interestingly, in Sunday’s piece, the Times calls Trum’s condition a “cognitive change,” while the story’s URL says it’s “cognitive decline.” Even in this instance, it’s likely a telling hedge.

Oh that’s not a hedge. They caught them red handed trying to convert a bad headline into equivocal to help trump. Fuck The NY Times

  9. Brit here. If there were one US newspaper/website that gave a fair and balanced view of the candidates and the election which would it be?
I wouldn’t mind paying for the election period just to follow the news.

Edit: Thanks for the suggestions, I will check all the sites mentioned.

  10. Tinfoil hat time. NYT and other big news sources have the green light to report this because it sets him up retiring or being forced out of he wins the election, clearing the way for President Vance. It would also explain why Musk just showed up as a cheerleader at a rally. Trump retires, gets pardoned by Vance for everything under the sun, Vance shuts down any current DoJ investigations, and Musk/Thiel get their guy in the big chair.

And if Donald doesn’t want to give up the throne? 25th Amendment time. After all the NYT called Trump’s mental state into question…

  11. You know the NYT has seen the writing in the wall, when Maggie F***ing Haberman said some unflattering things about Trump on the NYT’s flagship podcast, The Daily, last week. She’s been the Trump standardbearer / apologist on the NYT for at least 8 years.

  12. Apprehensive-Fun4181 on

Journalism has truly been revealed as a compromised joke thanks to Bush & Trump.

  13. RDO_Desmond on

It’s his penchant for violence they should be focused on, but more importantly, to focus on all of those who stand firm and brave against his threats. That Trump has cognitive issues is obvious and pales in comparison to the depths of his darkness.

  14. Scoobysnax1976 on

$5, if he loses in November he will suddenly be too far gone to go to prison or face any further consequences in court.

  15. WackyBones510 on

Frustrating but it’s certainly not “bad” to have this emerge later than sooner.

  16. pastoreyes on

Just more press getting Americans ready for the hand over to JD after the first month of trump’s presidency. Trump has become a Trojan horse to get JD and project 2025 to steam roll America.

  17. NYT had always played it super safe and not rock the boat. The fact that they are actually jumping ship means even the zealously cautious media outlets can’t ignore Trump’s obvious decline.

  18. Oceanbreeze871 on

But in the mildest way possible. Tomorrow they’ll be back to their Trump propaganda ordered by their ceo

  19. kwangqengelele on

NYT pitchbot: “and here’s how this is bad for the Biden campaign.here’s how this is bad for the Harris campaign.”

  20. Historical_Nature348 on

I’ve been a subscriber for years but no longer read their domestic political coverage. Of all the things a newspaper could take a stand on or do crusading journalism for the Times did it to get Biden out of the race after the debate. But Trump and Republican lawlessness continues to be normalized and largely gets a pass. It’s mind-boggling.

  21. PandorasCahos on

Funny how as you scroll down everyone forgot the topic and started talking about the Vietnam War !
    Or did they ?

  22. >He does not stick to a single train of thought for long. During one 10-minute stretch in Mosinee, Wis., last month, for instance, he ping-ponged from topic to topic: Ms. Harris’s record; the virtues of the merit system; Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s endorsement; supposed corruption at the F.D.A., the C.D.C. and the W.H.O.; the Covid-19 pandemic; immigration; back to the W.H.O.; China; Mr. Biden’s age; Ms. Harris again; Mr. Biden again; chronic health problems and childhood diseases; back to Mr. Kennedy; the “Biden crime family”; the president’s State of the Union address; Franklin D. Roosevelt; the 25th Amendment; the “parasitic political class”; Election Day; back to immigration; Senator Tammy Baldwin; back to immigration; energy production; back to immigration; and Ms. Baldwin again.

    > But don’t try to correct him, because “Trump is never wrong,” he says. “I am never, ever wrong.”

  23. -misanthroptimist on

To be fair, they’ve been drunk on access. But it’s Sunday morning and all ~~their~~ they’re left with is a hangover and remorse.

  24. I doubt that anyone who supports him at this point would consider or even care about his mental state.

  25. NYT: Trump is showing serious signs of cognitive decline. Here’s why that’s bad for Kamala Harris.

  26. I called this would happen. The closer we get to election and the more apparent that Trump will lose, we will start seeing these right-wing outlets start to distance themselves from him in an effort to save face come election.

  27. TeaDelicious4639 on

While gotta love all the comments against the NYT, they have given a broad depth of information and reporting over many, many years. Yes, it is obvious they have tacked the old lady to the center right, and at the same time have chipped away at the barrage of lies in face the obvious.

NYT, like all of the remaining “independent” papers (which does not exist – thanks to billionaires realising media control is essential) was filled with journalists reporting facts is on the cupst of disappearing. It is a sad passage of time in our history where truth is countered by non stop lies and the idea of equal reporting from any side has devalued the information we all need to evaluate and make good choices.

I fear that now the rules of what a fact is or rather lies are so mainstream – there is no turning back. The 4th estate is bigger and better than ever, relying just on soundbites of what he said/she said instead of doing the heavy lifting to promote the truth.

I swear to god, if the ‘October Surprise’ is the media finally collectively acknowledging that their golden calf is a few fries short of a value meal…

  29. Formal-Parfait6971 on

The attempts to normalize a convicted felon fraudster with pre-dementia are beyond ridiculous. No, I don’t want to debate policy and play the ‘both sides’ game when one of the candidates tried to overturn the last election and is not remotely qualified for the job to begin with.

  30. imadork1970 on

Well, duh. The media enabled Former Gut and his bullshit for a decade. They can’t act surprised now.

  31. ABSOseething on

Wow, this is just like, wow.

I’m standing and clapping and shitting and farting right now.

Trump is finished. America is back.
