It was a CR covering many different departments and agencies as I understand. Map title might be in error.

I have never seen a map of Senators with such a clear bias and agenda. And factually speaking, it is wrong. Senators represent the entire state.

  3. When was this, and why are some states split and others aren’t when their senators voted differently?

The entire Pacific Coast is Democratic districts thanks to Peltola and Glueskamp.

lol at that district in SW Louisiana. One of the most heavily impacted areas of the whole country by natural disasters

  6. All democrats voted yes?? That is sus, likely the bill had a whole bunch of other provisions. Either way, the FEMA running out of funds due to allocating resources outside its scope is no reason for increase funding.

The downside with living in my state is everybody but our one republican house member always votes correctly, and sometimes he does too.

    So there’s no drama.

FEMA expansion was only one part of a much larger bill, so this is a bit misleading.

Also, when a State’s Senators vote in opposition, it should be represented by hatch marks to avoid the implication that the Senators’ votes represent certain geographic areas within the State.

    Fun experiment.

Do a side by side comparison of this and Milton track.

Poetic justice for the climate deniers. But nobody should have to take a one two punch like this

  10. Looks like a storm is on the way to that red section of Florida and possibly NC.

  11. Maybe because fema ( like every government agency ) is inept and corrupt.

All states effected by the hurricane voted against FEMA. Go figure. By the scope of damages, they’ll get into those funds real fast.

Here is what this bill did. Title of map is fully misleading. Straight from the congress website for HR9747.

This bill provides continuing FY2025 appropriations for federal agencies, provides additional funding for the U.S. Secret Service, and extends various expiring programs and authorities.

Specifically, the bill provides continuing FY2025 appropriations to federal agencies through the earlier of December 20, 2024, or the enactment of the applicable appropriations act. It is known as a continuing resolution (CR) and prevents a government shutdown that would otherwise occur if the FY2025 appropriations bills have not been enacted when FY2025 begins on October 1, 2024.

The CR funds most programs and activities at the FY2024 levels with several exceptions that provide funding flexibility and additional appropriations for various programs. For example, the bill provides additional funding for the Secret Service to carry out protective operations, including for the 2024 presidential campaign and National Special Security Events.

In addition, the bill extends several expiring programs and authorities, including

    several public health programs,
various programs and authorities related to veterans,
    the National Flood Insurance Program,
the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program,
    the Food for Peace program,
the authorities of the U.S. Parole Commission,
the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Cybersecurity Protection System,
authorities for DHS and the Department of Justice to take certain actions to mitigate a credible threat from an unmanned aircraft system,
several Department of Agriculture programs and authorities,
the Department of Defense’s authority to use funds for certain military construction projects, and
authorities for sanctions related to human rights abuses in Hong Kong.
