There’s no hope with dope.
If cannabis is legalised, why shouldn’t it be commercial, private and profit driven? Would the alternative to that then just be state being the grower/distributer/seller?
I might be misunderstanding what she is asking
It must be the first time someone from Fianna Fail or Fine Gael have ever used commercial profit as a reason for NOT doing something 🤣
Absolute word vomit
“How do we begrudgingly legalize it and still suck the fun out of it? Like we can’t have a situation where selling it becomes a legit viable business and drug dealers stop being the sole source of weed in the country.”
When you need to get the word count but have nothing left to say
She’s a joke. She’s ran 4 times for FF in Dublin Central and has never been elected. She’s running in the next election so the drive for five is very much on.
Is she suggesting free weed?
Is she hungover? How do you sack a senator?
It’s a commercial, private, profit driven activity right now except it’s only gangs that see any profit out of it.
Why on earth wouldn’t you want it to be profitable…that’s the whole point!
Why shouldn’t people be allowed to go plant own for personal use?
It would give farmers a huge new industry. There’s already a profit industry there but it’s going into criminals pockets. Did she even think for half a second before she asked this.
Free weed under Fianna Fáil
She kind of has a point. The UK model is £160 per year in doctors appointment fees (4 appointments), you are then tied to a few pharmacies. And if you don’t fit the medical model you’re back on the black market.
Ideally anyone over 18 should be able to walk into an off-licence and choose from a range of strains behind the counter, the medical aspect should only be if required. If Ireland goes medical only the HSE much like the NHS couldn’t cope and would need patients to pay privately. If Ireland legalised recreational and there was a licencing scheme, the licences would be bought up by private companies to open chains.
So what I and hopefully the Senator is advocating is a lower licencing cost for privately owned single shops and common sense regulation that doesn’t require an in-house legal team and pharmacist.
Mary fitzpatrick comes out as a communist. Free legal weed would be a sure vote getting policy.
“joint committee”. Sorry.
In other words: “How do we protect the profit margins for our donors from the vintners associations”.
Just wait and see, they’ll begrudgingly make it legal some day, but you’ll only be able to pick some up from your local pub.
Just make it legal to grow your own.
Having a Joint Committee is the first step towards legalisation
