      Republicans have had the audacity recently to suggest that Democrats are too fixated on what happened after the last election… As if Trump hasn’t been obsessively whining about the election being stolen for years, while his voters have only followed suit.

      Not to mention how paranoid fixation is the Republican M.O. Their whole strategy relies on histrionics, moral panic and the continuous escalation of their culture wars.

      Almost every talking point or narrative is steeped in conspiracy theories and right wing phobias. They hyperfocus on wedge issues, resort to political theatrics constantly and always blow things out of proportion.

      If the tables were turned, January 6th would be their rallying cry.

      Anything that casts a shadow over their party or Trump is downplayed to no end. Any blatant crime or transgression committed by Trump is either immediately justified by his supporters, or he is portrayed as the victim of the deep state, radical leftist plot to undermine him at every turn.

      Acts of right wing political extremism are whitewashed or characterized as “false flags”

      All investigations of Trump are “witch hunts.” All indictments amount to the “weaponization of the justice system,” and every effort to hold him accountable amounts to “persecution”

      All critiques and damning facts are “fake news.” All journalists who don’t commit themselves to flattering reports and positive news stories are “cruel” and unforgiving leftist hacks who are in cahoots with the “liberal mainstream media.” All interviewers who don’t stick to softball questions are “nasty” bullies.

      All former staff members or colleagues who speak out are “disgruntled,” all Republicans who don’t worship the ground he stands on are “RINOS.”

      Anyone who doesn’t compromise their values or disregard the constitution purely for his sake is a traitor.

      Anyone who doesn’t show uncompromising loyalty is a loser.

      Judges are corrupt, juries are jaded, the justice system is “two tiered.”

      And among other things, every election that Trump doesn’t win is “rigged.” Even the Emmys were “rigged” according to Trump when The Apprentice didn’t win. The 2012 presidential election was rigged when Obama won. The 2016 Iowa primary was rigged when Trump lost to Ted Cruz, and for fuck’s sake, even the 2016 election was rigged because Trump didn’t win the popular vote.

      I’m sensing a pattern here, and one that Trump’s supporters aren’t capable of recognizing.

      And all of this makes it so flagrantly hypocritical when those same Trump supporters who show him unconditional favoritism, who are constantly apologizing for him and rationalizing his wrongdoing, who clearly believe that Donald Trump is incorruptible and beyond all manner of reproach, who liken him to a fucking GOD, these same people will jump to the most outlandish conclusions, conjure up absurd conspiracy theories, and abandon their penchant for mental gymnastics whenever the opportunity arises to blame Democrats or Trump’s opponents for anything, and often times this includes failures that Trump played a role in facilitating.

      The party of “personal responsibility” can’t seem to take responsibility for a god damn thing, while, much like insufferable children, they will not hesitate to hold Trump’s enemies responsible for every conceivable problem, and will never shy away from the opportunity to demonize, slander, condemn or threaten Trump’s opponents. They are an irrational force…
