While it’s awesome news, it’s a shame press chose to run with this story in the end. It was kept hush-hush when it happened for a reason. You don’t want to be known in Iraq for being rescued by Israel. That’s why many outlets ran with this story, keeping the details of her release ambiguous.

    > Fawzia was taken from her home in Iraq to Syria after she was kidnapped, where she was purchased by a Palestinian ISIS supporter who brought her to Gaza. She was forced to bear his children

There is an unbelievable amount of horror wrapped up in these two sentences.

Really difficult to understamd why people demonize israel, whilst painting all palenstieans as angels.

The most offputting aspect of this story (and there is alot to choose from) is that even after the original abuser was killed, the family persisted keeping her imprisoned. Its hard to understand when one person does an abhorrent act, but its almost unimaginable that a whole extended family are comfortable with this, even after there is no son alive to protect.

If this doesn’t convince the world someone other than Egypt needs to monitor their border with Gaza nothing will. Glad she’s free, I can’t even imagine.

    > Fawzia Amin Sido, 21, a young Yazidi woman kidnapped from her home in Iraq by Islamic State terrorists in 2014 when she was just 11 years old, was rescued from Gaza by IDF forces and reunited with her family in her home country.

    > According to various reports, Fawzia was taken from her home in Iraq to Syria after she was kidnapped, where she was purchased by a Palestinian ISIS supporter who brought her to Gaza.

    > The Iraqi Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Sido's release, now 21 years old, noting that it was carried out "Via a joint effort with the international intelligence service," without mentioning Israel's role or the fact she was held in Gaza.

How do you get to Gaza from Iraq without going through Israel? Jordan and Egypt?

Daily reminder that prophet Muhammad bought a child bride, but supporting Islam is still seen as progressive and criticizing Islam is seen as bad.

  8. So glad to hear that she was rescued. I just hope they can rescue her children next if that’s what she wants. Even though she was forced to have them, I’m sure she misses them dearly.

  9. First of all, glad she’s safe and she needs all the psychological help we can get her. But I really hope she is able to remember some of the details as to how she got there. It’s a lot to expected of a 21 year old who has spent half her life as a sex slave, but damn. Smuggling someone from the Kurd region of Iraq to Gaza is no simple task as I’m sure she didn’t go through Israel. That means it was by air or sea or both, likely with the help of governments. Egypt’s got a lot of explaining to do on this one.

  10. >reunited with her family in her home country

Isn’t she at risk of being “honor” killed by her family in Iraq though?

When people wake up and see Israel supports democracy, women’s right and western values. They are the only country in the region that align with our values. Israel under direct attack and Western countries are seeing a slow invasion. Wake up!

  12. What she must have gone through as a child is simply horrifying. I hope she receives the best post-trauma counselling there is available.

That poor girl. She didn’t even get to fully enjoy her childhood.

  14. The guy who purchased her should be compensated with a girl from the “Free Palestine” mob. Great chance to live your dream. /s

THIS type of shit is why I have trouble finding sympathy for the populations that allow Islamic supremacists to operate within.
