      Does anyone know of any source for Gilgamesh being one of the Anunnaki? As far as I know, he is not portrayed as one in the more popular stories.

      Generally these stories are intended to exaggerate the abilities and accomplishments of the their kings. I was aware that he lived a supposedly long life, but had not heard he himself was a giant or Anunnaki.

      And this is true of all ancient traditions. In Indian myths of Ramayana and Mahabharata, the heroes are very tall and very heavy. Krishna easily manages to subdue 8 bulls. Bhima can break a mountain in one blow.
