I honestly don’t understand how anyone thinks this kind of behavior is acceptable. “If I hold this woman hostage long enough, she’ll think I’m quite the catch!” is not a thought that anyone should think is rational.

  2. Nice! Check out this new misogyny hack! Making women feel unsafe in new and creative ways!

  3. unforeseen problem with self driving cars. she can’t just run over them. and they know it.

Waiting for the day decades from now when Waymo implements the “Keep Summer Safe” protocol, because, despite how far away it is, I know it will be sooner than when there are no more creeps like this to need it.

When a person isn’t into you and says no, that means no. I mean, do you really want to be with someone that isn’t into you? I would not. When you ask and they say no, it’s a moment of embarrassment, then you’re all good. We need to find these dudes and add them to the ranks of the unemployed.

  6. This raises a massive security flaw of these self driving cars. If I’m a criminal, all I need to do is wait for a a potential victim get in one of these self driving cars and park my car or place an object in front of it, stopping the car from moving the passenger is literally a prisoner in the car and the attacker is free to do as they please. Drive-by shooting, burglary, kidnapping, whatever. The passenger has nowhere to go….

I think, in this circumstance, when someone is being held hostage, a pepper spray is warranted.

Regardless of that particular passenger’s situation (which was pretty terrible by itself) it still baffles me how these cars are even allowed to operate – it’s so trivial to completely disable it in many ways, including putting a traffic cone in front of it or spray-painting (or using a non-transparent sticker) the lidar/camera sensors (I don’t think it is able to operate based on radar sensors alone).

None of these cars should be allowed to operate on public roads unless they will always have a human or android operator (capable of getting out of the car and removing the obstacle) present in them.

Self driving cars are soft targets. Imagine you wanted someone dead and knew they were in a waymo.

Malcolm Gladwell predicted this. Self driving cars would lead to belligerent pedestrians

“They asked if I needed police support and I said no.” then i guess everything is OK then right?

It seems like a lot of these issues could be helped by tinting the windows so people outside the car can’t see in.
