Don’t threaten me with a good time
Headline by the Indo is a bit ott.
The comment about flooding risk is about the risk of needing the esb to hold more water in their dams to allow for more year round water supply.
But the rest of the article gives a good breakdown on the reasons for the project.
You lot up there with yer yizzers and bleedins & an’ all aren’t gettin our water sham!
Seriously though, €74million spent just on planning?
Christ almighty.
They could do with a good wash
Fix the leaks first. This is pure nonsense by IW. Pumping more water into the Dublin infrastructure without fixing the leaks already there is a crazy waste of money. Very little has improved since IW was formed. No mention of all the money wasted on water meters installed outside most properties and never used. According to IW 37% of drinking water is lost nationally each year through leaks and 33% in the greater Dublin area. Enough said!
I have never heard anything more small-minded and parochial than culchies thinking they have the right to complain about “Dublin stealing their water” with this mooted Shannon pipeline.
I’d say just build it but it’s going to be plagued with planning debacles and legal challenges and protests isn’t it.
It’s not as if the Shannon is short of water ffs. This is genuinely getting a bit ridiculous and parochial.
It’s absolutely insane that in a country this wet any urban area could be facing water shortages.
Dublin definitely also needs more reservoir facilities.
Oh no, how terrible. Anyway!
A good flood is needed sometimes
Ooh,
sounds like someone is looking for massive project that goes WAY over budget so all the lads can get their hands in the pudding
Oh well, tough but sure look it.
Wasn’t water supply taken away from the local authorities because they were unable to deliver projects like this?
Now ten years later all IW have done is hire more and more consultants.
And keep paying themselves bonuses of course
Imagine if all landlords lost 80% of their seven-digit investments overnight.
We’ll sell the water to Dublin by the barrel.
We’re coming for our water
Maybe the government should just comission an ark and we’ll start again from scratch
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
