And one question that is always asked is whether this mission could not be carried out by trucks equipped with launchers for these rockets, but the answer is no! The air support mission in Ukraine carried out by the Mi-24 or Mi-8 helicopters (or the Su-25 jet) is not carried out randomly in stable areas of the front. This air support is carried out when an enemy concentration begins to form, when an advance begins, or when a position is lost but the enemy has not yet established itself or consolidated, and the allied forces on the ground do not have enough to prevent this on their own, either because they were caught by surprise or because of the lack of missiles, rockets, drones and howitzer ammunition in the area. On these occasions, the helicopters (or aircraft in the Air Force) fly at full speed to provide fire support and disperse or impede enemy movement or attack, or to try to repel an advance that has already been made. They won’t be as effective as they would be in direct fire if the area wasn’t full of air defenses, but they are still effective as a last resort in an emergency situation. And for this, several JTAC groups are spread across the front with their surveillance drones, ready to call the air support if they see the need
