What a joke. Eight years?!! Murdering a random man should carry at least 15 years. Don’t care how old you were when you did it.

That poor man, the moment they picked him out, his fate was sealed, they were just looking for an excuse to use their machetes. No matter what his reaction was, he would’ve been killed. Am glad these kids are going to prison

“The 13-year-old boys have been detained at His Majesty’s Pleasure, which is the legal equivalent of a life sentence for a juvenile.

In theory, if the boys are considered a risk to the public they may never come out of prison. However, if they make good progress and are considered not be a risk and behave well, they will be released – subject to the parole board agreeing – when they’re 20.” Even if released they’ll be on licence for the rest of their lives which means they’ll be subject to monitoring and far from able to just continue on with a normal life.

Sentence was reduced from 13 because of their ages and likely because of the fact one of the boys is a groomed victim of modern slavery who had mental health issues and was described by the judge as him being too young to realise what an affect those experiences had on him and “cannot be held responsible for the multiple childhood traumas he’s experienced.” Though oddly the other was described as having a loving family but she said they both shared the responsibility of carrying out the act and they (the judge/jury) cannot know which of them stabbed him first.

Both boys expressing remorse likely also helped mitigate.

The victims family are understandably upset with the sentence but given the age of the boys it was unlikely they’d get an adult sentence as the system believes in trying to rehab youth offenders. Honestly them wanting 15 instead of 8 seems pretty reasonable though. It is also shocking they had to pay to get their sons body back themselves.

    The BBC report says:

    >In theory, if the boys are considered a risk to the public they may never come out of prison.

That seems like the correct balanced approach to me. It’s obviously a horrific crime, but you’ve got to hope that children of this age can be rehabilitated over the course of 8 years.

  5. I feel that the killers’ parents are getting off very lightly here.

Could someone kindly explain to me why they aren’t subject to be held responsible in any way shape or form?

Like, dog owners can get prison time, so why are parents not held to the same standard when their little criminals commit serious acts of violence/ straight up murder?

edit; so the consensus seems to be… there are no laws or mandates that say parents should be held accountable or face consequences. But for a dog it’s a different ball game. What a strange dystopian society we live in.

Is there a reason they mention one of the boys had ADHD? Complex needs and ADHD, I wouldn’t strictly pair together as partial explanation for using a machete. Complex needs, yes, maybe. ADHD? I don’t get it.

Am I missing the point here?

    For Murder?
I believe in a life for a life….call me Barbaric, call me backwards all you like.

Those wretched lot knowingly deprived another of life!

Ps. I suppose I get banned for expressing my views.

  9. Name and shame these little cunts and then when they hit 16 transfer them to regular jail for the remainder of their sentence.

  10. There is a chance that they can be rehabilitated. A lot must have gone wrong when 2 13 year olds decide to attack someone with a machete.
I’m getting so tired of the constant “lock them up forever” cries whenever a violent crime occurs.

  11. Little scroats. Act like big men, should be treated like big men. The law in this country is a joke. No wonder you’ve got kids stabbing and wrecking the joint up when there’s absolutely no deterrent from the police or courts. They’ll be sitting inside their cells eating biscuits and watching fucking Cocomelon before the days out!

Honestly, I can’t comprehend this, from Zara Aleen killer shagging the prison ward and getting 3 years off his sentence.

Sabina Nessa’s family openly saying that their family got crap treatment and now this poor kid brutally murdered having parts of his skull broken through sheer force and the murderers.. 8 years.. British legal system is exactly what Sabina’s sister said.

Glad they only got 8 years, nobody deserves to have their life destroyed over a little tinsy mistake 🙁
