The Zurich International Film Festival has cancelled all screenings of the film Russians at War. Viewers have begun to receive letters announcing ticket cancellations, and the festival’s website has cancelled all screenings.

Details: In letters to festival visitors, the organisers stated that public screenings would not be held “for security reasons”. However, the film remains in the documentary competition programme, so it is still eligible for awards.
Good to hear!

Well I could think of some awards that would make sense here. Not sure they would like them though.
Russians at special military operations must not have been as catchy.
Cancel for moral reasons? No. 🫸
Cancel for monetary reasons? Yes. 🙌
Good! Can you imagine they made a film about the struggles of the German soldiers during WWII?
Imagine screening a movie about Germany in 1943 and trying to portray them as just ordinary Germans. Not showing all the destruction that they are causing.
Hell the German soldiers would have more of an excuse, as they had conscription. Russian soldiers aren’t, they are signing up for this. Its like portraying the SS as normal Germans.

What is Zurich Film Festival’s equivalent of Golden Raspberry?
Save all the movies about Russia for after the war, where it may actually be beneficial trying to see the Russians as something different than the murdering invaders they are right now.
They don’t need our sympathies , we aren’t doing anything to them.
Everything they are suffering through is caused by Russians.
…due to threats of violence
If one has a head for propaganda but was interested in the film to see Russians thoughts of themselves is there no where that will screen this?
I’m very curious to see their self justifications for starting this unjust conflict.
