      Author fails to understand that his 5 reasons are just convenient excuses racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic trump supporters use to avoid just saying they are racist/sexist/homophobic/xenophobic.

      The only other excuse is people that actually earn over 500k a year and are just selfish. Some of them also belong in the other group.. but some are just greedy and will vote for whoever promises to keep taxes low for the rich.

      –          You were a Nikki Haley voter

      –          You think John McCain was a hero

      –          You are a RINO

      –          You believe in climate change

      –          You challenge his unending lies

      –          You do not believe the 2020 election was stolen

      –          You do not buy his Infomercial crap products

      Because he hates the same people (minorities, immigrants, gays) they hate. Nothing more complicated than that.

      I understand why Trump won in 2016. He was an outsider running against the prototypical establishment candidate at a time when antiestablishment feeling were at their peak.

      But too many people entangled their personality with supporting Trump. Turning on trump would mean admitting to a core personal flaw. That is very hard for people to do. There will be a lot of people who ride the Trump train off the cliff rather than admit they were wrong.

      1. FEAR of Fake News and a deep state plot to overthrow the will of the people.

      2. FEAR the economy will get worse if a democrat is elected president.

      3. FEAR of immigrants and of the white population being “replaced.”

      4. FEAR of the wars in Ukraine and Israel and that more will start and that only Trump can prevent them.

      5. FEAR that the US is on the brink of failure and they need a savior from the “radical left.”

      Accidentally had a conversation with a Trump supporter. Everything he mentioned was about the Biden crime family, Hunter’s laptop, and how because Trump is a billionaire he must be seeking the presidency out of love for his country. I almost threw up. Mentioning the $1.7B he cost the taxpayers by housing the Secret Service at his properties at inflated prices simply could not convince him that Trump is all about himself. It is a lost cause. His supporters are too far down the rabbit hole. Vote blue or commit suicide because you won’t want another four+ years of this.

      Fear is a limbic system motivator. With a few false hoods and a bit of exaggeration, it is pretty easy to rouse the irrational into a fervor.

      By nature Trump is a used car salesman. He utilizes the simplest sales technique. Attention, interest, desire, action.

      America is failing- attention. Interest- they are eating people’s pets. Desire- You want to save America? Action- hate her, vote for me and send me money to get others to vote for me.

      My experience with fellow gen xers, who support trump, is really simple. They have one or several traits. They are narcissistic. They regularly frequent the bar with their regular crew. They were popular in high school and want to tell you all about it. While waiting for your to go wing order. They have a divorce or divorces and it was never their fault. They are quick to anger and say people need an ass whooping, while standing there doing nothing, clutching their pearls. You smell the toxic masculinity oozing out of them, including the women.
