      The charge came shortly after Johnson, appearing at the same pressroom podium, had vowed to back the certification of the winner of this year’s contest between Trump and Vice President Harris — if the elections are “free, fair and safe.”

      “Of course. If we have a free, fair and safe election, we’re going to follow the Constitution,” Johnson told reporters. “Absolutely, yes.”

      Democrats have their doubts, noting that in the aftermath of the 2020 election, Johnson promoted Trump’s baseless claims that the election was “rigged” by a conspiracy of corrupt election officials, foreign governments and underhanded software companies.

      I have a plan. We shrink Dennis Quaid and a spaceship and implant him into Speaker Johnsons body. Then we can make Mike think he is speaking to God and we can get him to certify the election. Somehow Martin Short is a part of this plan as well.

      Who gives a shit? He has no powers over certifying the election or not, and can’t even raise an objection to a single state without a fifth of the house

      The election is finalized after the incoming house is sat. Everyone in the house will either be replaced or re-sat on Jan 3rd 2025. Then, the first thing that they will do is select a new speaker ( or the same i suppose ). So, regardless of the role of the speaker in certifying the election, Mike Johnson very likely will NOT be the Speaker.

      I mean I’m not positive about this. Mike Johnson has pushed back a few different times. If Trump loses, he can finally rid himself of this orange cancer and push his own bullshit political career

      who cares. even if he creates a constitutional crisis… Biden would stay in office. Who would then retire on Jan 6th, and the VP would take over.
