Ich war auf der Suche nach einer Wohnung zur Miete im Süden Maltas, da ich gegen eine günstigere Option als die, die ich jetzt habe, einziehen möchte. Es handelt sich um eine schöne, beinahe luxuriöse Wohnung mit allem, was man braucht, und 200 m vom Meer entfernt (2 Schlafzimmer + 1 Büro, 2 Badezimmer, davon 1 Ensuite für 940 Euro, aber ich lebe schon seit 3 Jahren hier, deshalb sollte sie auf dem Markt 1200 kosten … Laut meinem Vermieter 😏).
Ich möchte über den Kauf einer Immobilie nachdenken und etwas Geld sparen. Dabei bin ich auf eine Wohnung in meiner Nähe zu einem Wahnsinnspreis gestoßen.
2 Schlafzimmer, 80 m², 650 Euro, brandneues Haus mit Garage und Rechnungen + WLAN bereits inbegriffen.
Ich denke, es ist besser, wenn ich Ihnen die E-Mail zeige …

Please see apartment photos attached.
The apartment is available for a period between minimum 2 months and maximum 5 years.
The rent is EUR 650 per month including all the costs of the flat like water, electricity, gas, tv, wi-fi etc .. , the only drawback is that we are in Spain and we are not able to show you the flat right now, but we can provide you an option to make a reservation.
In the past i’ve used TripAdvisor to rent my apartment for short period, but now because of my work and travel situation i do not have time to show the apartment to all possible tenants, so I chose to rent the apartment for long period, at least 2 months. Because of the short time that we have we’ve choose to use TripAdvisor to guarantee for the person that will stay in my apartment and the entire transaction, is the most trusted agency that can handle this transaction meaning all the rental procedures.
It is very important for me to know who is going to live in my apartment because I am looking for a good and responsible person, I hope you understand me and you don`t have any financial problems.
About me, I`m xxxx Different name of the one in the first email (Red Flag)xxxxx (This part I added not the following)I am hearing impaired, not deaf though just hard of hearing and I use Cochlea-Implants (I want to apologize if phone communication will be a problem by me), married with 2 kids , born in Spain ( I am a civil engineer who used to work in Malta,Sweden,Ireland and now back in the UK) ,very people person and serious when it comes to my assets.
And finally the normal requirements are 1 month rent + 1 month warranty deposit, there are valuables in the whole apartment.

Then I replied again telling him I was interested😂, I mean who wouldn’t be right?!??

Please let me explain you how the rental will go on As I’ve told you i’m in Spain. The deal will take place trough TripAdvisor and that means that they will intermediate entire deal for us. The minimum payment request to book the apartment is EUR 1300, this include 1 month of rent payed and one of warranty.
To complete the reservation through TripAdvisor you have to pay them 1 month of rent and 1 month deposit guarantee ( which is refundable after the contract ends ).
After the payment is completed and confirmed to them and me they will contact me to confirm your booking and i will have the obligation to show you the apartment in 48h and give you the keys.
So I will book a flight for Malta and in 2 days I will have the obligation to meet you and i will present you the apartment and the rent contract for long period(the period you have said) and as well we will register it to Malta Housing Authority if you need it for your work permit and residence.
As you know TripAdvisor gives you the option to cancel the transaction. If from some reasons the apartment is not 100% like you’ve expected TripAdvisor will give your money back (1300 eur) and i will receive an negative feedback.
Please let me know if you are interested to proceed and I will wait for the following details from you only if you did understand the process 100% and if you agree with the procedure through the tripadvisor.com 1 month lease that I paid for :

As soon as I have this details from you I will start the procedures with TripAdvisor and they will send you an offer invoice and contract with all the details.

Since when trip advisor does rents? Probably fake link will be sent.
It’s a pretty common scam. If you google ”tripadvisor rent scam” you can find other people’s experiences, the emails are often same almost word for word.
