Totally different that the las my one posted in this sub
How is Mini so low? They are awful
Surprised to see Honda/Acura so high on the list. And Jeep, Dodge, and Buick so low.
Toyota gang for life though. I have two Land Cruisers I still drive regularly. Between them there are over 600,000 miles.
I’m surprised Honda is so poor
Jeep and Nissan are both lower than expected tbh.
I’m curious to know how they’ve defined “problems” for this study.
A handful of minor issues with the trim is nowhere near as significant as a single catastrophic failure.
The gap between Chevrolet and GMC is surprising.
What is defined as a “problem”?
Is cosmetic damage weighted the same as a transmission dying?
Yesterday saw a post for most reliable and saw Honda/Acura being high on the list. Now I see this and they’re almost at the top. I don’t know which list to believe anymore lol.
JD Power is paid bullshit though, so take this with a grain of salt. A lot of these rankings don’t match other quality metrics.
These are the categories:
>climate; driving assistance; driving experience; exterior; features/controls/displays; infotainment; interior; powertrain; and seats.
And the highest is infotainment:
>Infotainment system woes continue to plague owners: As vehicles roll off the assembly line with increasingly more technology, it is not unexpected that the most problematic vehicle category is infotainment (49.1 PP100)—nearly twice as many problems as the next-highest category, which is exterior. Among infotainment issues, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity (6.3 PP100) is the top problem, followed by built-in voice recognition
PP100 = Problems per 100 vehicles
It seems a bit misleading to call that car reliability, imo.
JD Power might be the most corrupted rating system of any kind on the planet. There’s no way Chevrolet and Buick are that low and Honda is that high
Posting data as “least” anything and then arranging by “most” of something is confusing and almost deceitful.
Also, this is just the same data posted recently, just reversed for a new post and karma.
I’m so glad my wife and I swapped our VW for a Subaru. We got the car from her parents and idk how anyone in their right mind could ever buy a VW. Awful automobiles all around
They need to better define what a problem is in this case, and how severely it impacts the car. A can see more complex cars having minor problems like heating in side-mirrors malfunctioning etc. versus more serious issues.
So a Kia is more reliable than a Honda? Ya ok
JD Power is pay to play so I’d take this as potentially bad info.
By the Michigan motor labor union?
Lets see how Tesla ranks after the Cybertruck has been out for three years.
Cars built and sold in the middle of Covid-19?
Why are all these studies skip Mitsubishi?
For those wondering why the Cybertruck, a car that rusts in the rain, ranks so low its ironically because of Tesla’s own incompetence.
Tesla has only been able to produce about 12,000 vehicles so this survey likely only captures a few of them. This survey reflects problems with other Tesla vehicles that weren’t designed by Musk.
Mini being that low is shocking. My wife has a Mini Cooper and that piece of shit is always in the shop.
I’d be curious to see more in-depth details such as:
* which models were most and least dysfunctional
* for each model, what is its “generational age” (first of its generation? Last year for its generation)
* the number of people surveyed per manufacturer
* these numbers are averages. I’d be curious to see what some individuals’ highest reported discrepancies on a vehicle were. Someone buying a lemon would have more issues than someone buying a decently built vehicle.
* I wonder how many of those Subaru issues were from Starlink malfunctions.
Crying at being #1, signed, PacHy owner.
Hondas are that high? I thought they were a byword for reliable. Is it an issue with a particular model or their newer cars in general?
Ah, the Japanese Mercedes….!
Alfa Romeo’s reliability is off the chart!
What does “owner response” mean? Their opinion, their service history?
My 2016 340i has been a tank
How is the study average that low?
Measuring reliability by number of problems instead of cost of repairs seems misguided to me. I’d rather a car where a few small things break than one major breakdown costing $1000s
What actually makes people think “gee, I’d really like a Chrysler”? They’re notoriously shitty cars and at their price point you could literally do better with anything else.
Doesn’t this list sort of contradict the results of the last list? I’m a little confused.
Consumer reports put out their one list just a month ago. They make money off subscriptions. Jd power gets paid by the manufacturer.
“Consumer Reports gave the top honor to Lexus, followed by Toyota, both of which had a commanding lead over third-place Mazda. Acura and Honda were near the top, too. Rounding out the bottom of the list were Ford, GMC, Ram, Jeep, Tesla, Dodge and Chrysler, which was dead last.”
I didn’t realize Ram and Dodge were separate brands these days
Junk in, junk out. Not a great data set.
