>The activists have occupied the KU Leuven building since mid-May . In the weeks that followed, a true tent camp was created in College De Valk. At the beginning of this month, the justice of the peace in Leuven finally ruled that the students had to leave the building before September 16. If not, they would risk a penalty of 250 euros per person, per day.
>The activists chose their money’s worth and left the faculty well in time today. However, the students are not giving up their cause. “We may have to leave the building, but there are countless other ways we can campaign for an academic boycott,” it said.
>The activists immediately announced the next action. On September 18 at 9 am, a so-called ‘walk of shame’ will take place in the center of Leuven. The requirements remain the same.
>They want a full academic boycott of Israeli universities, support for Palestinian students, and a call from the university for a ceasefire. They also want transparency from the university about what collaborations there are, and they want KU Leuven to recognize Israel as an apartheid state. The activists say they will only stop taking action if those demands are met.
Some might say that they did not achieve much but, in proportion, Belgian students have tried and done way more than our government to stop the massacre in Gaza.
And they single handedly ended the war!
Jk they had zero impact
