Nicely coinciding with the Chinese announcement of mandatory basic military training for all students above high school.

The next 10 years aren’t going to be nice for the world.

Russia is really sprinting toward full on 1984. Putin isn’t even trying to hide it.

When I read headlines like this, or about the bombings in Moscow, I remember a great quote from 1984, about the only real reminders of an endless war being “a continuous shortage of goods and the occasional crash of a rocket bomb.”

I really do think that’s where this region’s headed.

when will the western nations, especially in europe, wake up and realize this in their practical policy?

  6. Go ahead and throw your youth into the meat grinder. They’re just your country’s future. 😐

We’ll consider terms when the Russian Babushka Battalion gets their deployment papers. At that point, there’s nothing left to fight. (Won’t be long at this point)

First it was 3 days, now it’s a forever war. Russia seems to have a problem with numbers which might explain why they think they can keep going on forever with a failing economy

  8. What youth? Their birth rate is low and Putin seems focused on lowering it further.

Putin should watch Bruce Almighty. Jim inherits all the powers of God, but, like God, cannot control people’s free will. Something to consider, Pootin

  10. And in the meantime people wait for peace negotiations…

Oh well, some denied existence of COVID-19, but reality caught up to them.

Funny how the Kremlin is still running like back in WWII. Passing guns around cause they don’t have enough. Comes with the ideology or something.

  12. 2022:

    “3 day Special Military Operation”

    2024:

    “Forever War”

To quote the Red Queen computer from Resident Evil (2002)

“Things, I gather, have gotten out of control”

  13. nah …. it won’t be forever. It will only last as long as the murderous war criminal Putin.

    > Putin's early presidency saw the creation of state-funded youth movements championed by Kremlin ideologists such as admitted Western culture lover Vladislav Surkov and Vyacheslav Volodin.

    > The full-scale invasion of Ukraine two and a half years ago renewed the government's focus on youth indoctrination.

    > The Kremlin is now transforming Rosmolodyozh, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, into a vast new ideological body tasked with systematizing and unifying all youth ideological education initiatives, from kindergarten to higher education.

The last time they had a ‘forever war’ with the west the country collapsed.

  17. boredomreigns on

…Russia probably can’t sustain a forever war the same way the US can, looking at their population, GDP, and demographics. Let alone their “throw conscripts at the problem” tactics.

  21. Looks like the Kremlin’s pulling out old tricks from the Soviet playbook. They’re doubling down on indoctrination to prep for a long term conflict with Ukraine and the West. Feels like we’re in a time warp

Rather chilling if you read it. Below is an excerpt:

““We need warriors, gunmen, stormtroopers — those who, at the president’s first call, will rush to the military enlistment offices, not Verkhny Lars,” a Russian government official said, referring to the Russian-Georgian border crossing where tens of thousands of Russians fled the country during the fall 2022 “partial” mobilization for the war.

“And there’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” he said.”

Remember when Putin was dying and had some terminal illness? What happened with that? Can he go away already?

  25. great_wench on

Oh the Kremlin. Putin isn’t immortal and the wolves waiting on his carcass know it.

How horrifying. Now might be a good time to… I dunno… revise the restrictions?

  27. darkgothmog on

Kremlin isn’t needed. Ruzzians already do it to their own children without the need for someone to ask for it

  28. Dan-Of-The-Dead on

And it’s all for nothing too. Over half a million troops dead, billions in destroyed equipment and a wrecked economy. And for what? They never needed to try and conquer Ukraine. It’s a vanity project, just like Taiwan is for China and even if they one day succeed it’ll have costed them dearly
