So dumb honestly like I can see why they don’t want it to happen but think if it was their country they be so salty if they wore told the aren’t aloud to use the weapons they have been provided in short I think giving Ukraine these missiles shadow etc was pure political relief form the pressure form other supporting countries that ship weapons to Ukraine

Well, I am not sure how much of this was the UK’s decision however I suspect there has been some back channel stuff going on that will unlikely be made public anytime soon. Very disappointing nonetheless.

“So did they pussy out after Putin mentioned direct war with west if Ukraine is given permission?

  4. I really didn’t think this would happen before the election, honestly. Not surprising.

  5. The exact wrong attitude Putin is hoping for. When the dog barks, you don’t run away. You back down. Every time you give Russia the space to be aggressive, make threats and nothing happens, it will grow more confident. The confidence will result in more and more belief in a victory at any cost.

The absolute weakness of our political leaders disappoints me deeply. How can you let Russia import long range missiles from Iran and North Korea to terrorise Ukrainian civilians, but meanwhile do not allow Ukraine to obtain the *EXACT SAME* capability from the west.

    What.the.f*ck.

Well the little respect I had for our government has quickly shrivelled up. Didn’t even last 2 days

Yet Russia can bombard Ukrainian cities with Iranian and North Korean missiles all they want… How frustrating for Ukraine. That’s some real B.S.!!!

I *hope* the US is just trying to avoid a faux escalation from Putin that riles up fears in the US, just prior to an election.

After the vote in early November, *if* Harris wins, then hopefully the permission can be granted. If this is the case, then it’s a good *temporary* decision.

If Trump wins, then it’s moot, as 10 weeks later the US will likely completely pull its support for Ukraine.

So, best-case is that this is strategic political thinking to not give Putin an easy way to signal WW3 without Trump.

Worst-case is that there’s behind-the-scenes real concern out an out-of-control escalation.

Biden hates Putin. *Hates* him. And Biden the US military Generals are not cowards. There will be a *very sound* reason why Biden is slow-rolling this.

We’ll be able to infer more in 7 weeks.

  9. Well well what a surprise both Biden and 2tierkeir don’t have the balls to stand up against a dictator ummmmm I wonder why.

  10. That‘s just great. Teasing for days it would happen, then make it not happen.

  11. 4D Chess moves IRL. Give permission, get trump voted in OR wait, get Kamala a better chance to get voted in and weaken Poutine thru another 4 yrs and the orange turd for election interfering. Not that the latter is going to happen because of the slow and corrupt Supreme Court because they basically have a stranglehold on democracy because trump got incredibly lucky appoint multiple justices and layed the groundwork to get off scott free if it ever reaches the supreme court.

Ukraine are literally fighting a war with their hands tied. Pootin needs taking out for a long walk.

I guess, this is the diplomatic approach of allowing Russia to move their assets further away from the frontline before approving the long range attacks.

Soon the mud season is back and nobody will progress any further until it freezes up

  14. F@#ken wusses !! They need to grow a set.. its okay for Iran, North Korea and China as well as western sanction breaking western countries to by-pass sanctions, by shipping to a 3rd country for profit and help Russia… but not let a country you promised to defend itself properly for giving up their nukes while all the above targets civilians, their infrastructure… tbh no one wants a nuclear war, even putin I surmise, however he doesn’t look like he has long to go, so maybe he wants to go out in a big bang, as he has singlehandedly allowed Russia to become a 3rd World country instead of looking after all the people…similar to the some western countries granted.

  15. Putin got exactly what he wanted.

This is infuriating. I cant even say its cowardly. It truly does look like we could care less about Ukrainian lives and only want to empty out russia militarily and economically as much as possible.

To any Ukrainian people reading this, I apologize on Americans politicians behalf.

Our leaders would gladly watch another 300000+ Ukrainian casualties and years of war than give the tools and means to do the one thing yall need most to turn things around.

At the very absolute least permission should be given to strike military airfields where the planes that bomb Ukraine are taking off from. Honestly any military facility in Russia should be open season.

It sucks that even if Harris wins we know not much will change in the permissions department. That being the best of two outcomes. It will entail another big fight for major military aid and a delay if it even happens. Or Donny Diapers wins and there is likely no more aid from America until 2028 at earliest.

If it was America in the position of Ukraine and we needed the help to battle an invading military and were told we couldnt strike them back then you bet we would be raising hell and demonizing them for it. The only reason i dont wish that medicine on us is because it wouldnt be the people doing the damage now that would be recieving it.

  16. Everyone is missing the point.

This is likely (and on the BBC one correspondent said this, will need to find the link again) a clever move that was planned in advance.

They’re leaving Putin second guessing what they’re going to do, without actually risking escalation.

Starmer’s background is as a lawyer, at one point before entering politics he was our Director of Public Prosecutions. No matter what you think of him politically, he’s a smart guy.

These guys aren’t so fucking stupid that one NATO country said yes, then the US said no and we all look weak in front of Putin. They’re doing it on purpose because Putin needs to be left guessing, it’s the only language he understands.

This will have been communicated to him via diplomatic channels before it was made public.

  17. UnionGuyCanada on

Cowardice. Putin is allowed to bring in weapons from around the world, and Ukraine is bleeding out while the West wrings it’s hands in worry.    Another Neville Chamberlain moment. If we only appease the murderous despite he might behave better.   Crush Russia and all who stand with it. Cut them off completely from interactions at ever level, except negotiations, and let them pay a real price for their actions.   Anything else dishonors the hundreds of thousands of dead Ukrainians, all killed for the glory of Russia.

  18. ArtisticMonitor2593 on

Sounds like Chamberlain and Hitler all over again soft cocks, Putin is drowning put a hose in his mouth !

  19. reniltnorF on

Cowards. Behaviour like this makes it more likely a nuke will get used. Because it signals Putin that he can do what he wants because everyone is scared.
