Take it from their foreign aid. Not like they’re putting it to good use anyway. Sorry turkey (🦃) your pet is gonna be pretty expensive this month

  2. What sort of international assets does the Syrian government actually have? I thought they were doing the whole “Russian oligarch piggybank” thing where the government created a couple billionaires that weren’t technically in government, then seized their assets when they needed money.

I wonder if relatives of about one million people who died because of US’s wars in Middle East sued US, would US pay for compensation?

  4. Wait, are they really blaming Syria for ISIS terrorist attacks? LMAO.

ISIS was the enemy of Assad and received a significant support from US, intentionally or not. Most weapons given to the so called “moderate opposition” ended up on ISIS hands.

  5. I’m sure the terrorists just thought those soldiers had hidden nuclear weapons.

Good luck collecting. Hamas charity orgs have been sued as well by american families…it’s a statements, but not going to yield returns

An absurdly high judgement that has no chance of getting paid out.

  8. So will US courts find the US government liable for damages for any attacks in foreign countries that resulted in accidental civilian casualties? What a joke this is …

Probably a default judgement because defendant didn’t show up. Either way, they aren’t going to repossess and sell Syrian assets to pay that money. It’s “symbolic” and was an utter waste of peoples time

I will be interested to see if there are a litany of lawsuits in US courts ciring this as precedent from survivors of people killed by groups that the US government funded.

  11. interesting, means european citizens can sue the USA for causing all the chaos in the middle east that lead to a bunch of terrorist attacks in europe.

    Great precedent.

How much is the US sending to the families of all the foreign civilians it slaughters, or leaves to die when they “strategically withdraw”?

it’s unfortunate that the countries which commit the most terrorist attacks are virtually always horribly oppressive, infighting, and unorganized. Makes bookkeeping tough.

Otherwise these types of penalties would seriously deter terrorism if laws were imposed at a national level in countries with high levels of terror.

When you see countries that subjugate women, indoctrinate their population, suppress free speech, and routinely violate human rights, etc – you typically don’t see them do very well on the economic stage.

These families aren’t going to get that compensation.
