    I find that unlikely as it would have burnt a hole in the Cheese Layer.

    I think that’s a dubious conclusion. It’s much more likely the beads originate from an asteroid impact. Large collisions can melt rocks. For example the Tycho crater is 108 million years old. That impact would have created molten beads similar to what they detected.

    I first saw the HBO series from the earth to the moon a few years ago. One thing I found fascinating was the episode where they teach the astronauts about geology. No one ever explained this in school. All we ever heard about was Apollo 11. The later missions were way more interesting it turns out.
