      Yeah, right. Putin broke so many treaties that there is no guarantee he’ll follow through.

      I mean, duuh – a seizefire, surrender, and reparations by Russia need to be negotiated. Between Ukraine and Russia.

      This is true, but largely meaningless.. the results of the conflict determine when a negotiation occurs and when one of the participants is desperate enough for an exit strategy they may bargain reasonably and in good faith.

      At the moment the Ukrainians know how far they can trust the Russians, Putin cannot afford to show weakness and both sides believe they can improve their battlefield position. So the conflict will likely continue for some time.

      That could also mean that Ukraine will be handed the final negotiation result and “persuaded” to implement it with or without their consent unfortunately.
      Ukrainians may be offered a quicker path to the UE in return and/or some other “sweeteners” like NATO forces presence on their teritory.

      Negotiations should be Russia pulls out of Ukraine in accordance with international boarders, Ukraine is receives fast track acceptance into Nato, Russian reparations paid to Ukraine, Russian assets seized during the war will be used towards payment of said reparations, and a 50km DMZ inside the Russian boarder and any Russian military movement within 50km of their neighbors boarders will we viewed as an attack on said country and wiped out.

      Russia should have no say in what they want, but lying and aggression will continue to go unpunished. Sadly, the West will continue to restrain Ukraine, preventing them from being able to end this war swiftly, and then pressure Ukraine into accepting Russian demands. It is the exact reason why authoritarian governments are regaining popularity. Everyone realizes that the world doesn’t care about right or wrong unless they are affected directly.

      The Pentagon chief isn’t on the battlefield or fighting for his country with one hand tied behind his back though is he?

      Just let Ukraine use weapons inside Russia like Russia is using Iranian and N Korean weapons inside Ukraine.

      Maybe Zelenskyy can decide on US policy as well, that sounds a fair deal.

      The war ends If Russia breaks. Otherwise its just a short delay in a never ending war and pushing at whatever borders seem the juiciest at that point and constant meddling in politics to make the west worse and poor as possible.
      Want economic growth and cheap Energy? Break Russia snd whatever smal states come after wont have the money to run a nuklear weapons programm and will sell oil and gas dirt cheap. Couple that with growth from rebuilding Ukraine ( oil and gas rich with great soil itself) and you have a new economy boom.

      That was always going to be the case, Ukraine destroying Russia entirely is impossible. Even WW1 and 2 were ended with treaties.

      So far the US refuses to

      – allow strikes on Russia with American ATACMS missiles
      – allow strikes on Russia with British Storm Shadow missiles
      – allow Poland to intercept Russian missiles near its border
      – allow Sweden to donate Gripen jets to Ukraine
      – allow foreign pilots to join Ukrainian Airforce
      – allow American contractors to go service Ukrainian F-16s

      It looks like their plan is to just wait til Russia gets bored of war. Hint: it won’t.

      You can’t negotiate with Putin and the current regime. They can’t be trusted to hold to any agreement.

      The problem is that an agreement with Putin is as good as dirt. Tell me how to possibly negotiate with someone like that. You need to settle everything by other means (force and threat of force) anyway.
