Taking those US first amendment rights overseas is always a dangerous gamble. Sadly not the first time this has happened and it won’t be the last.

  2. The Israeli settlers are always just “A few bad eggs” but it ends up being the IDF that pulls the trigger against Palestinians who don’t like the settlers annexing them. Can’t wait for a bunch of snide comments about how she deserved to get shot, then a bunch of emergency hasbara.

  3. I understand why people want to go to a war zone and help others, but it’s super risky. Even journalists in that area which are supposed to be completely off-limits to both sides have died during this conflict.

For context – the West Bank has seen increasing activity from Hamas militants in recent weeks. This is an unfortunate scenario, and it is definitely also a war zone. It’s a tragic loss of life, and I wish this war would end.

Will the US do anything to protest the killing of one of their citizens? (no they won’t, because it’s “our greatest ally” Israel that did it)

  6. Hang on—what’s the actual situation to this? Some Israeli out of nowhere said “screw it” and shot some random woman for no reason?

Just like decided to be evil?

One thing I’ve learned this year is that it’s always worth digging as deep as possible into the media because while it’s not always the case, 8-9 times out of /10, there’s an “oooh, gotcha, so they were X” moment where it makes Israel go from unrealistically evil to understandable.

More details will come out. Despite what the keyboard activists will tell, Israel doesn’t generally open fire on peaceful protests in the West Bank.

My guess is that it was an unfortunate hit from a rubber bullet, or it wasn’t as “peaceful” as claimed and the police/soldiers were in danger and had to escalate.

Hope more info comes out, and the shooter is held accountable if none of the above.

Four Americans were shot dead at a school here as well. I don’t expect any actions to protect people anywhere.

  9. This is probably one of the best “statements” (for a lack of a better word… I agree, I like saying thoughts”) that I’ve seen. Not surprised, considering who it is from.

  10. Got to give to them, instead of protesting in New York, at least they went to the West Bank. Can we send the rest of the protesters?

“many thousands more will die before Hamas is completely destroyed” is an insane sentence btw

I would never go to a desert country and expect the same treatment as I do in my grassy country

The comment section will always go “why is she there in the first place?” instead of “why is Israel shooting at unarmed civilians?”

Being in the middle of a ‘protest’ where fist size stones are being thrown at armed soldiers is probably not the safest place to be.

  15. According to the article, she was hurling rocks at soldiers and is described as a “main instigator.”

It is probably unwise to try and cave in the skulls of soldiers with guns. Kinda calls one’s non-combatant status into question.
