We`re making space for all the indians, nepalis & tourists… so we can make the worlds first hotel country
This is not a political post. And I think, from my personal experience, that the issue for infertility is stress. Nothing but stress.
I ask: how can you raise a family when both parents need to work to pay off their hefty home loan? Ah yes, the free-of-charge childcare services. But the work stress? The pressure from paying off the loan? The family pressures? For instance, children especially in their early age tend to fall sick very often. And many times, employers refuse to allow a level of flexibility.
Another example, again from personal experience. How can you raise a family when there is a construction site next to you? You have to endure at least 3 to 5 years until the building is fully finished. The noise, vibrations, pollution – it is impossible for the mother and baby to rest.
Again, not a political post, but would love to read other users’ reactions to David Spiteri Gingell’s remarks.
1st world problems!
The answer is not to import more people (especially TCN’s), but to stimulate sustainable regenerative increases to the fertility rate.
Falling fertility rates are hitting developing countries in Africa and South America too, It is linked to estrogenic sources, plastics etc too. ( these people dont want to use condoms even if we educate them, and their based religious beliefs lead them to be anti abortion, therefore is not based on an improving economic situation)
Also, if we do import, we should be highly selective and import from countries and cultures with a reputation for historically integrating and assimilating peacefully.
Otherwise the true goal of this effort is not to save the Maltese people, but to weaponize Immigration against the native population as is being done across all of Europe.
This will lead to dilution and expedite our extinction.
Fucking word playing rats.
Unfortunately the root cause of this is feminism. This has been a bitter pill to swallow over the years. Mass immigration is simply a reaction to the effects of feminism in Western societies.
Malta is lost my friend. I am sorry to say this, but with the mindset of Malta’s politicians, the only way for the Maltese to have it back is for its economy to collapse and then start all over again. There is another way to improve the situation, but Malta’s politicians are embezzlers. They are traitors that look only to fatten their pockets and nothing else. They do not want to change the current economic model because this model allows them and their families to become and retain their elite status. This is found in other countries as well, but in the case of Malta, it is way too small for this situation to not have a devastating effect on the whole country.
For Malta to improve, you need to invest in an education system that would produce people with medical, engineering, IT expertise, etc…that is industries of a high value and that are less polluting. The construction industry is a very, let’s say, ‘evil’ industry. Oh yes, sure, our houses were built by construction developers. But these developers have turned into monsters. They grew so large that with the help of politicians, they became the owners of this country. They bend the law, with no punishment – thus encouraging the rest of the population to do the same. Even politicians did that, as we all know.
Not unique to Malta. Japan’s population is shrinking despite increased levels of migration and Britain’s birth rate keeps dropping after a year.
Maybe there is a common theme here. In that overpopulated societies end up having less children for variety reasons, mostly socio-economic.
good.

European population is dying, in general.
Most people within the age group that normally have kids can’t afford to move out, so it’s not like anyone is in a rush to have kids they can’t afford to raise.
Unfortunately, there is no one easy solution to a problem of this sort. Easing the stress on people’s shoulders is easier said than done as it requires large groups of people from different social and economical classes to co-operate with each other and find a common interest. Moreover, regulations with regards to basic needs like housing need to be implemented and enforced to ensure we don’t end up with a monopoly, where 10 people own everything (not that we’re far off at the moment).
Hopefully, statistics and discussions like these motivate the people in power to do the job we elected them to do.
Sorry but if expenses are on the rise…how come people are still going out and travelling all the time?
Restaurants are always full up all around the island every weekend! A message needs to be sent to these establishments! Stop going and paying ridiculous amounts of money where you can cook at home for half the price and a much better portion!
No one is saving up these days – that’s the mentality these days because most have the mindset ‘YOLO’.
Getting married and having kids is not the end all and be all of life and I think more and more couples are realizing this.
Some are limited for budget reasons, some naturally and some by choice.
I fall in the last group. I like my life and I don’t want to ruin it by having kids. At 32 I feel like I’ve just gained some stability and freedom and I’m not ready to lose that. Our friends all have had kids in the last 3 years and they’re a shell of their former selves and although they don’t admit it, they’re all extremely frustrated.
Someone sent me the statistics for countries around euroee. There are official sites in each country too. The last two years show growth again. More concerning is what some wrote. Salaries are stagnant. It’s also in a few other countries. Hence why young people move, leave and abandon their current or countries where they were born. Economical aspects , and possibilities to change this in a positive way on a larger level is what is causing the most stress… You would think that a country like yours would have people on streets protesting until matters are better.
One thing I was told too, also recently. It took a year to fix a 4km stretch of almost straight road. With tax payers money you’d think you’d go and make everyone aware that this type of incompetence is not allowed…
I don’t see that the young people will stay in the island, or the other countries, where they think nothing can be done.. apathy is a learned habit. Guessing you can expect a further decline in living conditions.

Stress is caused not only by the environment we live in but also by the way of life. Do we need to do extravagant birthday parties to our kids? Do we need to go on two vacations each year or subscribe our kids to a full week of activities? Do we need to buy things way beyond our means. Yes fertility is declining its a scientific fact and stress is one of the causes.
We do not have family friendly measures and parental leave up to standard. If a newly delivered woman has to hand over her new born, barely 4 months after giving birth and go back to work, not even having recovered herself from birth and postpartum and has hardly settled into mother hood the chances is she will stop at 1 child. 25 years ago I had my mother helping me with my child when I went back to work, and I still did not even consider having a second. Nowadays grandmothers have to work up to pensionable age.
Also keep in mind that most parents want their children to live a comfortable life, experience travel, attend good school and extra curricular activities, children are not raised only by feeding and clothing them in hand me downs. That is another factor to keep in mind, apart from how expensive it is to rent or buy a tiny apartment.
It’s like that all over western hemisphere. Caused by lavish lifestyle of baby boomers for the last 40-50 years.
Now millennials and gen z have to pay off their debt and fund their retirement plans.
We are basically economic slaves, and slaves don’t tend to have much children.
All thanks to the greed of the politicians, irrelevant blue or red.
Also thanks to the majority of maltese people that vote because they worship the political parties.
