Then why not let them take out 10% of Russias airforce? That would be huge.

This is gross incompetence.. what fucking “escalation” are they afraid of? Russia is already hitting Ukraine with everything they’ve got and their only trick left in the bag is nuclear threats they’ll never have the balls to follow through on.

Why the hell are we making Ukraine fight with its hands tied behind their back over fictional escalation fears? The fact that they invaded Kursk and nothing happened proves Putin is all talk and bluster..

Zelenskyy should just say “fuck it” and start using the ATACMS and Storm Shadows in Russia anyway. what are we gonna do? Stop arming them and let Russia steam roll the country?

This war would be over already if we weren’t so pathetically afraid of a paper tiger in the kremlin.

Well, what’s stopping you from taking out 10% of Russian aircrafts?

Say it like it is – bombing russian oil reserves is like shooting ourselves in the foot – thats why you will not allow attacks on russia and it makes sense. What I dislike is that they lie to us and take us as a fools.. Check Russia and India oil trade and to who India resells this oil.

  5. If can’t use missiles to attack-em, why missiles called “attack-ems”?

    > **[Kirby] condemned** recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities,

I’m with General Hodges on this one, rhetorical condemnation does nothing to help. A revision in policy is the only valid floor for participation.

  7. yenot_of_luv on

Gee wonder how that happened. How did they manage to move all targets out of range

  8. discontented_penguin on

Not sure the reasoning of someone with that tie should be trusted

  9. And why are they beyond the range, Mr Kirby? Because you gave them enough time to move 90% aircraft away.

  10. TransportationIll282 on

That can’t be the reason though. “We’re not allowing them to use them because they wouldn’t be very useful” is not an argument.

Absolutely fucking infuriating: both strategically and politically.

Restrictions???What difference does it make where in Russia the aircraft are. If you strike in Russia then why not go for every thing you can reach. This strategy makes me crazy. Another reason for me saying as long as this stays under control, there is a lot of money to be made

  13. AbraxasTuring on

I think the restrictions and the slow roll of munitions supplied needs to stop. No restrictions, as much conventional as possible as quickly possible. That means ramping up US production ASAP.

We’ll need shells and missiles especially. For US, Ukraine, and Taiwan. I think we also need more North American volunteers recruited and trained in North America or Poland.

So they waited until russia would move the planes from 300km to use it as an argument against allowing the strikes we’ve been begging for months while the planes were in range.

What a lowly & cynical move.

I’m wondering if they’re waiting for Harris to win the election before they’ll allow this?

Perhaps they’re scared any sort of incident or precieved escalation (through the lense of some voters) will influence the election in a bad way.

  16. HeadAche2012 on

It is pretty shocking how much an election year affects foreign policy. It essentially is saying the jobs of those in power is more important than global security

American foreign policy is playing a dangerous game and way too confident in their control in this situation. My take is that Zelensky is doing an internal shuffle to place more pro ukraine war hawks in place that will be more coy with the Americans while planning some major advances/attacks! I wouldn’t be surprised if they just ignore the current restrictions on the weapons provided and just go for it and let the chips fall where they may. The Baltic nations that are strong allies will soon join the fight using some exemption that would allow them to engage without bringing in nato entirely.

  18. The Biden administration has been a major disappointment in foreign policy.

It bothers me that Harris doesn’t have a plan that differs from Biden, and Trump’s plan is even worse. The solution is so obvious from my POV.

Let Ukraine strike deeper into Russia, military targets only. It would build more support nationally and worldwide. It gives Ukraine leverage for a ceasefire deal.

Putin has no reason to come to a deal with these restrictions in place. They prevent Ukraine from winning, and turns the war into a long, drawn out war that ends when Putin decides to. It’s terrible fucking policy and it won’t work. Putin transformed Russia’s economy into a war economy the past year. He’s gotten allies and deals from other countries for war supplies and ammo. He’s thinking ahead, while the US is paralyzed and braindead.

You know, John, that they could have taken out a portion of that 90% if you let them. Delay and cowardice wins again.

It’s starting to look like the US just wants to keep this conflict going for as long as possible.
