Glatigny has already proposed a four-year teaching degree, with larger salaries for staff who are more qualified. The better trained the teachers, the better the level of education they can provide.

  2. Maybe give starting teachers at least a minimum level of job security? Most (ex-)teachers I know started off with temporary contracts for years. Often staying in the same school right up until the point where they had to be given tenure or whatever precedes that where schools can’t just not employ that person.

    Imagine a young teacher starting out in life, wanting to start a family and buy a house. Good luck getting a mortgage when you have to tell the bank you don’t know if you’re going to have an income in a few months… No wonder so many give up and look for another career.

    Stable job. Real salaries paid since the first month. Stop administrative bullshits. Reduce size of class ( most parents cannot stand their kids for 2 hours. Teachers manage 24 kids for 8h each day). More than 2 days of training a year. Realistic budget for lesson ( cooking lessons … without food !?).

    And

    Kill that ” nominated teacher”cast. A nominate teacher can stop to teach on the spot to do something else in the administration. And it works heavily on nepotism. The temp sub does the work for which the nominated is paid .

    I’ll be heading into teaching as soon as my company shuts down at the end of the year. If I leave now to teach, I’d lose a bunch of money from the bonuses the company has to pay me for closing. So eventually there’ll be one more teacher out there.
