If he won’t obey the law in Brazil, then padlock Twitter headquarters.

ISPs shouldn’t be blocking access to the web.

Musk is still a hypocritical asshole.

  3. GlowstickConsumption on

Wasn’t Musk falsely claiming politicians he dislike are criminals, while he himself is in violation of laws?

Elon is above the law. The law is for little people, don’t you remember?

Well, Brazil does have the means of jamming X and Starlink as well as raiding physical facilities that transmit signals to satellite if it wish to do so.

Giving a blunt reply like that and Brazilian authority just might follow through.

he and a certain ex-president both have the mentality that laws apply to everyone but them. that same mentality allows them to advocate free speech…..while censoring those that disagree with their speech.

musk needs to be slapped down to size. he thinks he can get away with anything because he does get away with everything.

    he needs some real concequences.

  7. time for lula’s govt to try to block the service that lots of people use then, sure it will go well for him in the next election against bolsonaro or someone like him, lmao.

  8. So reddit supports censorship if it’s a Republican they don’t agree with.

why do people here like to lick government tyranny ass? Elon musk can’t put people in jail, governments can

  10. No surprise that Elon’s company won’t enforce anything against another of Elon’s companies. Looks like Brazil will have to accept it or figure out a way forward without Starlink.

Looks like Starlink receivers are about to get banned in Brazi.

To be fair I support this in the name of a free and open internet. Governments should not be allowed to censor the internet.

I think Musk and starlink are going to face consequences in a trading sense. L Especially if EU hears about this.

Google, Facebook, Apple, and every other company must comply with the laws of the countries they serve.

Musk will lose another company’s access to Brazil.

For a businessman, he is really stupid.

“The billionaire responded to the account block by calling Moraes a “dictator.””

    Mmm.

I hope nobody in the US is still willing to give that guy military contracts.

The overall attitude here that censorship is great if it’s against someone we dislike is pretty concerning.

  18. Like at some point I don’t even understand why anymore.

The whole thing started with Brazil legislation wanting twatter/X to have a legal representative in Brazil. Surely opening a small brunch office and hire someone to be the legal representative are much cheaper then missing a whole country of users (profits)?

If it’s because of “FrEe SpEacH” which I do not for once believed Elon even care about it. But if that’s the concern then closing off a whole country of users IE voice to further the free speech goal is just…… Redundant… like whats the point if U have free speech when Ur Speech reach less people then it should normally.

Now we see starlink which Elon argue it’s different company from X is actively and selectively to help X get pass the ruling. How the hell they want to spin it to say the 2 company is not related

I sware at this point Elon are running on pure spite then reasonable decision

So Starlink is telling Brazilian regulators that they will be actively breaking the law. Seems like a smart move.

I recall the US pilot who gave the middle finger to a Brazilian customs officer and was arrested. He thought no one would care. Arrogant man. Here we are again.

We’re talking about multi-national gangs, when the majority of humanity would be better served with the investigation of multi-national corporations.

    Wake up.
