I wish Mongolia had the balls to arrest him, but I don’t blame them for not doing it.

I mean, what can even Ukrainian lawmakers do at this point except for shouting. All they know is shouting tbh.

I get why Ukraine is egging them on and I’d be mightily impressed if they did, but I don’t blame them if they chicken out. I would.

  4. I suppose life sharing borders with both Russia and China is all about not trying to do this type of vigilante initiatives ngl

  5. Thing is, ukraine isn’t entirely wrong. If Putin gets to prance around without getting arrested, then he is proving that the ICC is worthless and should be disbanded.

However, from what I can read, the ICC has ties to UN and can use UN to enforce rules outside juristriction etc, this means that you could totally have UN forces from whatever UN country come and get Putin.

That being said, Putin is taking a risk at the end of the day, while many, me included think that mongolia isn’t going to do anything, we also wouldn’t say that we know. China has been lately showing russia the cold shoulder so I’m wondering if Putin is actually going to do this or if he has an excuse ready.

  6. Please don’t. Poor Mongolia can’t take on Russia and is not in a situation where it even could be supplied by the west if we wanted to help.

That would be wild if they did, but it would sign their end if they did. China and Russia probably would attack.

  8. Would this not be the same as asking Washington/USA to arrest Bibi on his trip? In earnest, what’s the difference?

Dollars to doughnuts it will be one of Putin’s doubles. I doubt he would risk going there himself

Even if Mongolia arrested Putin, they have no way to get him out. Mongolia can’t move anyone out of Mongolia without crossing China or Russia. Even to Kazakhstan. Mongolia has no interest in holding a trial for Putin or detaining him indefinitely.

Mongolia will not arrest him, because countries and organizations of the world can only discriminate against Russian citizens, not fight Putin and his government.

What would happen if Ukraine sent “tourists” to Mongolia who shot Putin in the head?

Really shameful if they don’t arrest him.

Honestly everything related to international law has been really shameful.

I mean, even if the try to arrest Putin they have to fly over Russian or Chinese air space to take him to court, which means that going to Mongolia is not a danger for him, and give him PR points

  15. It will be Putin’s double , it’s no way this MF going to Mongolia

I think if you could get hands on him there’s no way in hell Russia would ever start launching nukes. It’d be game over.

Mongolia all of the sudden doesn’t have any police officers or a department.

The mighty Mongolian economy surely has little to fear from western sanctions.

It’d be interesting if an unsanctioned black ops unit were to gain entry into the country and kidnap Putin on Mongolian soil (since they probably don’t have the strongest/best security) and then transport him to the steps of the ICC headquarters.

If Putin and no else can confirm definitively which country were responsible for running the unit and Mongolia denies it, who would Russia take retaliatory action against?

At the very least, this would make for a pretty sweet action movie.

    Ok genuine question.

Say Putin sends one of his doubles to Mongolia, and they actually arrest him. What then? Like how it works in these cases?
