It’s a faustian bargain. Every second the hostages are not home is one too many, I don’t even want to imagine what horrors they are going through. Equally, any deal would include the release of hundreds, if not thousands of terrorists, many of whom sure to be the hostage takers and mass-murders of the future.

  2. The protest is not just a call for action but it’s also a reminder of the human cost of political decisions and the limits of military power in resolving deeply personal crises.

It is not in Netanyahu’s interest, nor is it in Hamas’s interest for any of this to come to any conclusion, until the political forces behind them tell them to stop.

In this case, it is Iran, and The United States.

I love Joe Biden. I do.

    But it’s time.

Leave our ships there, pull our financial support. This is done.

An immediate deal would require a total capitulation to Hamas demands and no guarantee of safe return of all hostages. Are they sure they want that?

  5. All these protests do is embolden the enemy. The war cabinet is not going to consider them in their decision making process.

The reality is that an immediate hostage deal just ensures that attacks like Oct. 7th continue happening.

This is tough man. I understand these protestors, I really do. But there really is no guarantee of Hamas to stay true to its word, as revealed by recent findings.

Controversial thing here – doesn’t a hostage deal mean that Hamas gets a “success” from this?

Despite all the hits to Hamas and their leadership, eventually they have won out and got however many recruits out of Israel?

Like, this is going to surely incentivise more hostage taking?

Netanyahu aside – him and his corruption are a separate matter.

Absolutely no disrespect meant to the hostages, its just it seems theirs no good options.

  8. It’s literally a lose lose for israel and doubly that the world is anti israel right now. I do think however that a full scale invasion into Gaza won’t be acceptable again and therefore should be maximized while they’re so deep in there right now. World acceptance of israel is diminishing, id imagine in 10 years it will be even worse. Sad that the world can hardly call out Hamas but it’s the current state of things.

Many of the commentators here seem to be operating on the assumption that the Israeli government is operating in good faith and is truly trying it’s utmost to bring the hostages back while keeping Israel’s national security in mind. It isn’t. This government has proven multiple times both before and during the war that it’s decision making is detached of any desire to bring back the hostages or Israel’s national security.
You have to understand that most people in the Israeli security and military brass think that leaving the Philadelphi Corridor and signing a hostage deal won’t pose a significant threat to Israel’s national security and encourage signing a deal now.
And before any armchair general comments “But that’s capitulation to Hamas!” or “Dealing with terrorist only shows them terroism work!”, I ask that you read again what I wrote and take a moment to think whether you truly believe you know more about Israel’s capabilities, it’s national security, the hostage deal and the political situation in Israel than most of it’s military and security brass and many prominent politicians.

Netanyahu has failed the hostages. He’s supposed to be the leader of Israel and its people and he only cares for himself.

  11. I hope these protesters realize that they are doing exactly what Hamas wants to see. They are effectively encouraging Hamas to kill more hostages to get more unrest in Israel.

  12. Why don’t journalists go visit Hamas leaders and ask them to release rhetorical hostages.

Must be instigated from outside Israel as the Israelites have put forth numerous proposals and all of the have been turned down by Hamas.

  14. I have infinitely more respect for these protests than anything those Ivy League Hamas apologist cosplay Che Guevara dumbasses are doing

  15. DrManhattan_DDM on

Wouldn’t it be more effective if the protest was held in Qatar for the leaders of Hamas to have to face?

  16. So whenever an Israeli asks “Why do people blame Israel and not Hamas” just remember Israelis do the same thing.

Can we get perspective on the ratios here?

This is a couple dozen people – most of whom will be dead from Israeli bombing.

Versus tens of thousands of dead palestinians.

Do as you like, but don’t expect rational negotiations with that ratio.
