Can Mongolia take one for the team and arrest him anyways, please?

It would be so funny if he arrived and they said “Did you really think we would tell you in advance that we were going to arrest you?”

Mongolia has ~1/48 of Russia’s population and no way to get military support from allies. They are not risking their national security.

The way it’s breaking down in my head is if America breached nuclear-armed Pakistan’s sovereignty to take out Osama, they’d have no qualms about invading nuke-free Mongolia to nab Putin—if they were truly serious about arresting him.

Guys, this arrest warrant is not worth the paper its printed on. I know that may come to a shock to many of you, but no one is going to do a damn thing. Could you imagine if they even tried to apprehend a sitting foreign president on their soil? That is 100% a one way ticket to being knocked back to the stone age, and you all know it.

Look I hate Putin as much as any one, and think he should be brought before the ICC in the Hague and tried for his crimes. But it just is never going to happen. He has more of a chance to face mob justice in his own country by his own countrymen than he does facing any sort of civilized criminal justice in a court. Which is to say the chances of an internal civil war is next to slim. Privileged Russians could be starving in their bunkers, and Putin would be tucked away in his bunker complex in the Urals safe and sound. Just the way the world works.

Mongolia would be the world’s most beloved country if they do it.

South Africa didn’t have the balls.

  8. Whats the point of The International Criminal Court if the countries that make it up refuse to turn in a war criminal on their soil?

As much as I understand Mongolia’s position the system for maintaining global order, justice and stability is getting absolutely ridiculed

Apparently an icc warrant is as useful as a restraining order. Evil marches on because it can.

You only get one shot Mongolia to be known for something other than Beef.

  12. Does it have to be Mongolian government representatives though. It’s a poor country, a little bribery & a good plan to separate the target from their entourage could net a big prize.

If there is one thing that South Park has taught me, it’s that you can’t trust the “god damn Mongolians”.

Just get someone to whisper in their ear, gaslighting them. “Gengis Khan would do it”

I don’t think there’s precedent for arresting heads of countries due to diplomatic immunity? Typically you do that after they are deposed.

Compared to what Israel and Netanyahu are doing, Putin and Russia are considered a humanitarian organization.

If this ICC really has any power, they will have a police force there to arrest him. The people of Russia should be happy, the tyrant will finally be gone

  18. Not that I had expectations of Mongolia, but it’s still disappointing.

This is his exit Plan B. he’s gonna get “incarcerated” and “die” in jail.

“Here Vladimir Vladimirovich, your luxury accommodation for your stay.”

“I appreciate the armed guard, but why are there bars on the windows and no door handles on the inside?”

    “No reason…”

  22. Even if he did get arrested there would immediately be a huge Spetsnaz operation to get him out. Those dudes don’t fuck around

    “You can’t arrest me.”

“We know. But they can” – *gestures to officials from The Netherlands*

  24. Pull a Belarus on him: intercept his plane with some long range fighters and force a landing in a friendly nation that has an arrest team standing by.
