  1. Better to be a bit player in NATO than a third-degree vassal state to China

Well that is probably the smartest decision.. Claim you had to do what you needed to at first, you protected your people, and side with the inevitable winners. Rotate out of office at the next election and bring prosperity to your people by joining the west.

I’m not sure the Ukrainians want his help though.

  3. I’d just make a deal with the EU to exchange free and fair elections against a Swiss passport and a small villa in Locarno.

He has the same fortitude as Donald Trump. Putin who? Never heard of him.

  5. M3RC3N4RY89 on

That’s all fine and great but he said he won’t accept that advice and is doubling down on their alliance with Russia so it means less than nothing

  6. brometheus3 on

He literally says in the article they need to be accepted by the east and he’s happy they are and calls the west mad men….. like what’s the point of this to get engagement from bots and people who can’t read?

Belarusian leader Lukashenko claimed he’s been urged to turn against Russia and side with Ukraine but rejected the idea, citing threats from the West.

Be funny if Lukashenko been playing the long game in real life the same way I play the long game in Civ 6 multiplayer: betraying my “allies” at the worst possible moments.

Wont happen because it would actually Benefit them and a be a smart move. But Belarus absolutely should, even if they dont wanna join the West, purely for self-preservation

  10. Red_not_Read on

That’s the smartest thing I’ve ever seen attributed to him.

He’s too dumb to take the advice, though.

  11. Alive_kiwi_7001 on

Looks like Lukashenko is worried about not lasting much longer and needs some Russian troops to shoot his own people.

  12. Great idea. Come people of Chechnya and Georgia. Time to tell Putin to fuck off.

  13. I’m betting his bodyguard detail has some FSB plants that are ready to throw him out a window if he decides to stop backing russia.

  14. GratefulPhish42024-7 on

Why are they even with the russians in the first place?

Did the leaders of Belarus see putin invading Ukraine and think it was totally fine and that they would support it?

  15. Slacker256 on

Regardless of how noble such move would be, siding with a losing side isn’t the best idea overall.

  16. His country is intact and people alive. Hardly someone could do more in current circumstances and neighborhood.

  17. OrangeBird077 on

It would be hilarious if Belarus also invades Russia and takes land

  18. This wouldn’t a surprise because most of Belarus hasn’t sold their sole to Putin like he has, but he’s very unlikely to shift his stance because he’s too scared of high rise windows.

  19. Intelligent_Will_606 on

Well, we’re waiting for something he commits to back up such a move…

Do we get betting options for luka’s imminent demise? Window? Drone? Car bomb? Public execution by your former soldiers? Public execution by hanging with shitty cell phone footage to verify? Mob beating? Suicide? It’s like dictator roulette but the casino comes to you!

  21. PoutPill69 on

That’s great and all but I hope he has a plan for shortly thereafter when Russia conducts a 3 week special military operation to de-Nazify Belarus….

    Just sayin’.

Belarusian leader claims he is being advised to ”turn away from Russia” and ”fight together with Ukraine”

    This man is a genius.

  23. TehRiddles on

I’m surprised that he admitted that, his handlers aren’t going to be happy.

  24. New-Mathematician58 on

So he didn’t get his Colonel uniform yet from Putin 🤣

  25. Belarus experienced a similar brain drain with skilled labor and young professionals leaving the country when the invasion started.

  26. boot2skull on

Ya know man I’m getting calls left and right from women asking me to see them, but you know I can’t. I have to turn them down and stay with my Maria. You don’t know her she’s in a different former eastern bloc country.

  27. Just_the_faq on

Dog whistle call to “someone” to offer a better deal than Russia, he won’t turn on Russia unless it’s a better deal than what Russia offers.

  28. Interesting-Dream863 on

Preparing the ground? Asking for a better deal?

There won’t be a better time to break off from Russia. Before they were strong. Now Ukraine gets away with invading them.

If they wait to the end of this drama they will be able to deploy their entire forces to “remove the nazis”.

  29. PrivateFrazer on

If this guy wants to stay in power, he can only be loyal to Russia. If he does not he probably falls out the window soon😄

  30. OgdenSherafNBR2 on

Fuck him, too late to turn back now he should get fucked too

  31. Marchello_E on

Ah, that rhetoric again: “a lot of people are saying that […]”–“but the many things people don’t know is […]”

  32. neutralpoliticsbot on

Belorussia doesn’t have a large or a modern army they are kinda useless

  33. Luka should see what happens to the people who gets too involved with the affairs of Vlad.

    He should remember Prigozhin.

  34. bobby-blobfish on

    Dear Belarus…

Poland is to your rear… and they have lots of weapons.
