  1. Why? What did Russia do when they throw Navali into jail? Did they provide strong evidence to the west?

    Russia is a joke.

  2. Big_Increase3289 on

Like the evidence that they were fighting Nazis and demons in Ukraine I guess in their special operation.

  3. HospitalOk9743 on

LOL A country that jails people just out of nowhere demands a strong evidence??? Made my day 😀

  4. Not_a_housing_issue on

Evidence like Russia threatening you if you don’t release their lackey?

  5. Russia is dirty another avenue cut off possibly transfer of money through highly encrypted sources

  6. Sounds like a conspiracy theory but imho Pavel knew something bad was about to happen in Russia and purposefully let himself get jailed in France since there’s no extradition if i’m not mistaken

  7. Lorn_Muunk on

There’s some rich irony in Russians pretending to care about demonstrating a preponderance of evidence prior to convicting someone.

  8. Civil-Cartoonist-277 on

Russia suddenly worried about due process and fair trials??

  9. gerrymandering_jack on

Rich coming from a country where posting things on Facebook the authorities don’t like can get you jail time:

    >*Igor Baryshnikov has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison* for Facebook posts critical of the Kremlin’s war in Ukraine.

  10. Why? The telegram CEO is a French citizen. He is subject to French law.

It is always funny how dictatorships think things work. They protest that it is A-OK to invade another country because they felt so strong what was happening in a region they once officially acknowledged to be of a seperate country from them… but France exercising its sovereignty by arresting a French citizen based on French laws in France (IIRC) is somehow an international matter that deserves threats and international discussion.

Lol or else what? Russia boasted the world’s 4th largest military when it invaded Ukraine who boasted the world’s 46th largest military.

Russia believed the war would be over in two weeks. That was three plus years ago.

Nobody is afraid of Russia’s paper tiger anymore.

“Russia says” is the new “Hamas says”

You can shut your terrorist piece of shit mouth! Nobody cares!

  13. The guy ended his Russian citizenship and fled Russia. Completely pathetic that suddenly Russia pretends to care about his rights.

  14. It’s so weird. They forced Durov to sell VK to government and FSB affiliated people, tried to ban Telegram couple times but now they care about his arrest so much? Is he actually in bed with Putin after all that was done to him or are they playing into the narrative that he is?

  15. IntelligentFan9178 on

Waiting for them to arrest French citizens on fake charges and hold them hostage as a bargaining tool like usual.

  16. Jasonac7789 on

Coming from the country that has a 99% conviction rate despite little to no evidence in many cases.

    That’s rich.. I mean Russia.

  17. RecentMushroom6232 on

I do not feel they are trying to defend Durov. By making a fuss they could be trying to mislead and raise the question of if sensitive Russian communications are on Telegram’s servers. Which could make the case against Telegram worse.

  18. Betelgeuse-2024 on

If Russia is so interested in this case then France might have something good here, they look worried.

  19. Naduhan_Sum on

Yeah, the evidence is in Telegram itself. Open it and you‘ll find numerous bots for everything, including illegal activities.

In the Belingcat article about the journalist tracking down the FSB men who poisoned Navalny, he also did an experiment and wanted to see if he can find a cooy of his own passport by simply using Telegram bots from the black market. Well guess what, he found it in just a few days and it cost him only $10.

So that is why they banned Signal yet are using Telegram. Did not know it was Russian software. I would not trust their encryption then

  21. Dry-Interaction-1246 on

Russia, the world’s moral authority, has spoken. Daddy Putin will lead us to Elysium.

  22. TheWallerAoE3 on

I agree with this sentiment BUT this is like a war criminal complaining about his friend getting a speeding ticket. Russia has NO moral authority when it comes to legal matters.

  23. Kobe_stan_ on

I’m sure France can guarantee the evidence will be at least as good as the evidence that Russia had against any Europeans or Americans that have been held in jail in Russia over the last 5 years or so

  24. I mean Russia coming out in defense strongly suggests it should be outright banned

  25. Iamaleafinthewind on

Russia concerned about a tech bro getting arrested?

What an odd thing to say.

  26. stuffundfluff on

the fact that russia is so pissed about this means this is absolutely the right thing to do

  27. TruthieBeast on

What could be more incriminating than having Putin send his goons to protect you ?
