Jordan Parlour, 28, was jailed for 20 months after pleading guilty to inciting racial hatred with Facebook posts in which he advocated an attack on a hotel in Leeds as part of the violent public disorder that swept England last week.

In Northampton, Tyler Kay, 26, was given three years and two months in prison for posts on X that called for mass deportation and for people to set fire to hotels housing asylum seekers.

They are the first people to be charged for posting criminal messages online linked to the recent far-right violence.

Parlour’s post said: “Every man and their dog should be smashing [the] fuck out [of] Britannia hotel.” More than 200 refugees and asylum seekers lived at the hotel. The initial post received six likes, but could be forwarded more widely owing to Parlour’s privacy settings.

Passing sentence on Friday, the judge, Guy Kearl KC, accepted Parlour took no part in the violence but said: “There can be no doubt you were inciting others to do so.

“You went on to say that you did not want your money going to immigrants who ‘rape our kids and get priority’,” Kearl said. “You were encouraging others to attack a hotel which you knew was occupied by refugees and asylum seekers.

As a Brit this is just fucking stupid man. What’s stopping them from being like chins and put me in jail for my opposing political beliefs? It’s a thin line.

What about the news and medica companies that “accidentally” spread fake news, did the gov do anything to them?

Edit: downvote me more u commies. I’ve already realized why places like the EU and UK will never be world leaders in anything. We lack the mindset. We as a country are all lazy assholes that want free lunches from the government. There’s a reason we are Americas lapdog.

I wonder how many of those arrested/defending these people would likely be a little bit annoyed if someone were to be posting about them/their house needing to be burned down on social media based on misinformation.

This is so insane to me that people are completely fine with the government giving people 2 years sentences for social media posts.

Even in the US, inciting violence is not part of the free speech package.

They specifically singled out a place and suggested people attack it. I have zero problems with them getting sentenced.

This is more than rapists get in the uk for rape. Example: https://m.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/courts/jail-for-belfast-man-who-raped-woman-he-met-on-dating-app/a1929108403.html

  8. One of them aint even fully white. Hehe. Meaning his parent or grandparents were once immigrants.

The main issue people have with what is happening here is not that they were arrested for inciting violence. It’s the fact that they were arrested and sentenced to YEARS in prison for words, where people arrested for actual acts of violence are given laughable sentences that require no prison time.

There are recent examples of people being arrested, tried, and sentenced within mere days as well. This is a far cry from others who again, commit actual violence, who have trails that are months, if not years, down the line.

I think if you jail the person advocating for violence online then you have to let all the perpetrators of said violence go free. You can’t shoulder blame on two people, either its the person acting being responsible for their own actions or its the inciters fault causing someone to do something they otherwise wouldn’t do, thus I think this is a stupid ruling and I hate my shit country.

I believe that inciting violence should be punished harshly, so I don’t disagree with the concept of jail time for that.

I assume that the Labour MP who called for far right protestors throats to be cut will see a similar sentence?

How about the ones sending death threats to the Batley school teacher who showed an image of the prophet Mohammad in a religious education class? Then again, that was 3 years ago with no prosecutions, and the teacher is still in hiding.

It is completely reasonable to call for mass deportation of unassimilateable immigrants, who do not respect the the natives and their culture, in order to maintain societal unity and preserve the native culture, but stirring up violence is a different matter which I cannot support.

As a right leaning person I draw this line very clearly.

Even in the US this sort of thing doesn’t fall under free speech. They are going after Trump for inciting the violence that occurred on January 6th in Washington DC. As they should. Inciting violence in any capacity under the guise of free speech is bullshit.

    Human Rights Act 1988, c 42, Schedule 1, Part 1, Article 10.

“Everyone has the right to freedom of expression.“
    […]
“The exercise of these freedoms, since it carries with it duties and responsibilities, may be subject to such formalities, conditions, restrictions or penalties […] , for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, for the protection of the reputation or rights of others […]”.

    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1998/42/schedule/1/part/I/chapter/9

So yes, free speech is subject to various things and is not completely unrestricted, and is also open to interpretation.

These men aren’t virtuous champions advocating the right to speak, they are racist thugs encouraging attacks on the ‘other’.
    – Uk law can be open to interpretation, and thankfully this time was used to punish the bad*.

*Bad is also open to interpretation etc, yada yada, these blokes are wrong’uns whichever way you look at it.

  15. You will have far more success with your views if you voice them peacefully to as many people as possible. It doesn’t give you a bad name in the process and people will probably actually listen to the concerns you have. Calling for the burning of buildings and fighting people on the street does nothing but give you and your message a bad image

Believe it or not there’s section of speech that ISNT protected by the 1st Amendment and yet people are still baffled
