tourist tat. I don’t think anything like that was common in NRW, but this is explicitly with the coat of arms of the city of Essen. So it was some sort of tourist souvenir probably from the last 10-20 years.

Stuff like that is sold to tourist within the last 60 years. They are only made for tourists. noone in Germany says „Stein“ or has such colourful things.
