(Preface: I am Turkish Cypriot and am not aware of any Turkish ancestry from Turkey/Anatolia).
As you may (or may not) remember last year I posted my GED Match admixture results using various projects. To summarise I was getting a mixture of Lebanese, Cypriot, Syrian and other Levantine countries. Some projects gave me some Turkish too. However the distances were still quite large. Other Cypriots (both TC and GC) who use Gedmatch get very small distances to Cypriot. So I was unsure if these results were accurate.
I decided to convert my Raw DNA into G25 Co-ordinates, and then use [https://vahaduo.github.io/vahaduo/](https://vahaduo.github.io/vahaduo/) to create a new admixture. Here are my results. As you can see most of the results point to Lebanese.
However if I run it again in the ‘Single’ tab it shows Maronite and Orthodox Lebanese as the top result (I would have thought these two groups are the same), with also Cretan and some Turkish. Though honestly I don’t think I have any ancestry in North Western Turkey so this might just be noise.
What did I learn today? Not much! I am still Cypriot at the end of the day. But it’s still fun to use these tools.
(Note for those who have used these tools before – I re-ran these calculations with G25 Co-ordinates converted from GED Match results and received similar results)
