Not only do I remember using this coin, I remember when it became a (novel) thing. Before that we had LM1 notes.

The days when you would buy lunch and a drink and still have change left for an ice cream.

Maltese lira. In the 80s early 90s, you could buy a Kinnie (soft drink), ftira biz-zejt (bread with tuna, olive oil, tomatoes, capers, onions etc) and a small ice cream with that. You would also get some change.

used to go to a bar in marsa and have lunch every week for one of those. We ate what was on menu , horsemeat stew, pork chops , mqarun , rabbit spagetti, washed down with a glass of home made red and  free water.

  6. Whatever €2,33 can get you in 2008. The value of the Maltese lira was actually quite high. The closing conversion rate was €1 = Lm0.4293
