  1. Thats the gross-gross… We have a progressive tax system and you’ll pay 39% tax (inc tax and social stuff)overall. (According to the calculator)

Welcome to Austria, my friend- where you get taxed nearly to death…

Nah, you aren’t missing anything. Some in this sub would say that 31k / year for SV (pensions, health insurance) surely are worth it. For my part, I’d rather pay at least a small amount less to put it in ETFs instead (but you can’t in Austria) …

  4. Once you go beyond 100k you’ll need to think about “tax-efficient” forms of employment … consult a tax consultant who can often find a good solution between you and the company.

Taxes in Austria are ridiculous once you begin earning a higher salary.

Dont worry… people who make money with money pay 27,5%, owners of big corp almost nothing, because they do not make profit on paper, or they make the profit somehwere else, not in austria, promise. You have your fair share. Next time get born into a rich family.

  6. Think about the bright side: there are pretty much no property and inheritance taxes.

  7. Yes you are missing basic skills of informing yourself about taxes before you work in another country.

I hope you’re better at your actual job than you are at solving a pretty standard “riddle” like income tax mechanics of a (i assume from your perspective foreign) country.

why so surprised? you’re in the top 10% of earners, who else is supposed to pay taxes?
