it’s a mess … controlled growth is good. but during the last 10 years the growth was uncontrolled and without having an infrastructure that handles the growth we are now in a mess… simply overcrowding wherever you go.
It was not sustainable in the late nineties, last fifteen is getting progressively worse but the quality of life at times has drastically improved.
Flows of expats?
We’re all stressed to our limits and it’s getting worse every day, the only ones who’ve benefitted from this are businesses. What do you think we think about it?
I‘m wondering. Where does the growth come from?
IGaming and the whole tax thing got quite a few to Malta, the construction cheap workers (I saw quite a high percentage on construction sites that look like they‘d be from African countries).
Is it just that?
It correlates directly to the lower quality of life, much higher property prices, higher rental, higher cost of everything, traffic, chronic overcrowding. It wasn’t great before but it’s worse now. Also keep in mind the cost of living increases have been paired with minimal wage increases over the same time period.
Noise everywhere. Everything is expensive. Traffic everywhere, pollution & construction… but hey at least you can go wait in a queue to by zara clothes and hang on an overcrowded dirty beach.
I love having such diversity in Malta
“what do Maltese people think about the huge population growth since 2010?”
“GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY!! “
