No wonder, food is so fatty, and the sweets, and no desire to leave homes due to traditions

Hər şeydə israfçılıq. Yeməkdə, içməkdə, toyda, stresdə, şəhərdə, tortda. Hər yerdə azza, aptek, topaz.

Fun fact: Az is high on this list because our people don’t like when doctors open up their dead to find out why they died so everyone who died of “natural causes” in Azerbaijan are registered as “died from heart failure”.
Source: a doctor friend claimed so.
Source #2: I have lost an aunt, a cousin, an uncle, 2 friends in the last 7-8 years. Non of them were autopsied.

This is fairly interesting considering I had some work friends visit your country recently and they said it was difficult to find restaurants that served something other than fatty meats. They eventually resorted to eating Pizza and McDonalds all day.

In Azerbaijan, as well as most other post-Soviet countries the death is registered when the heart stops. Therefore, when someone is in hospital let’s say because of their kidney related problems, and kidney fails. Then, they wait until the heart stops and register that they died because “the heart has stopped”.
That’s why this is a technicality problem rather than a general cardiovascular problem in Azerbaijan.
