The Navy reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the ship “Kostyantyn Olshansky” with the Ukrainian “Neptune”. Damage to the ship is being specified.
Dmytro Pletenchuk, the spokesman of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said on the FREEDOM broadcast that the ship “Kostyantyn Olshansky” was attacked by a Ukrainian missile ” Neptune “.
Pletenchuk said that the affected large amphibious ships “Azov” and “Yamal” will not be able to perform combat missions in the near future, as well as “Ivan Khurs”.
In addition, he reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the ship “Kostyantyn Olshanskyi”. Earlier, Russia stole this amphibious ship from Ukraine in 2014 during the occupation of Crimea.
It stood in the bay for 9 years and the occupiers began to disassemble it for spare parts. By the 10th year of the war, the enemies realized that they were running out of large amphibious ships, so they restored it within a year.
At the same time, they wanted to give the impression that they allegedly restored “their” large amphibious ships, for example, the ships previously damaged by Ukraine – “Minsk” or “Olenegorsky Miner”. After all, the damage there is such that their restoration is in great question.
This ship was supposed to be used by Ukraine. Therefore, a decision was made to destroy this unit with our “Neptune”, Pletenchuk said.
What is known about the damage to the ship “Kostyantyn Olshansky”
Dmytro Pletenchuk noted that the extent of damage to the affected ship is currently being determined. However, he was definitely affected and is currently incapacitated.
It is worth noting that it was quite difficult for the enemy to restore it for use. According to the Ukrainian mass media, in 2014, when Russia began its seizure of Crimea, our sailors on the “Kostyantyn Olshansky” managed to disable at least some onboard systems and at least one of the engines.
And Russian sources generally said that the entire power plant on the “Olshansky” was completely disabled, that is, both 16ZV/40/48 diesel engines of Polish production, each of which has a capacity of 21,000 horsepower.
When the occupiers announced their intention to restore the ship in 2023, Ukrainian analytical publications specializing in military issues doubted whether the enemy would really take such a step. However, apparently out of desperation, the Russians decided to restore “Olshansky” and it cost quite a penny. And now this ship is again affected by the Armed Forces.

Four ships in 36 hours. It’s almost comical now. Russia is being crushed like never before. The refineries are burning by the day. 😍🤩
Time to get out your Black Sea Bingo Cards.
Solid work by the AFU.
With all those refineries being damaged, it’s only fair of Ukraine to help Russia reduce their fuel usage by sinking those gas-guzzling ships.
There’s a delicious bit of petty revenge written all over this. “It’s ours and we’ll destroy it if we want to.”
Black Sea bingo is filling up nicely this month 👍🏼
It may have been Ukrainian, but it’s better at the bottom of the ocean than in their hands
Or in other words: Russian warship…
